Missing the "too thin" me

I used to weigh 100lbs- I made some lifestyle changes and am currently sitting at a "healthy" but uncomfortable 123lbs. I'm only 5'1", I want to get back down to 110lbs or less. I know it doesn't seem like much, but I am really afflicted with my weight and how to be happy with my body but also be healthy. Also irritated with the amount of calories I'm supposed to eat, it seems like so much!

Have you tried cycling? A friend of mine got me riding and I am absolutely addicted to it now. This exercise ( at least for the current me ) is a perfect fit. No impact, burning calories, and feeling better all the time.
If you are not riding (bikes! not horsies) give it a try.
I personally don't understand how some people can do stationary bikes, i cant do 5 minutes on one, but get me outside I can ride for hours lol.4 -
I actually really like stationary bikes- I read while I'm on them haha. Elliptical is my favorite- but lately I've been trying classes via Groupon- various dance classes, CrossFit, etc.0

I used to be unhealthily underweight (through restrictive habits)
After being super skinny and all, it eventually backfired, and I gained all the weight back, and was left more miserable than ever, in a restrict/binge/purge cycle that only kept me larger. So thats when I finally decided enough was enough and I came here. I keep reminding myself of that, to make sure I don't have the tendency to be underweight like that again.
I'm trying to quit the obsession with skinny, and I found the best quote yesterday:
"I'd rather be fit and sexy than weak and dainty"
I keep repeating this to myself, you should do the same - just focus on health, exercise almost everyday, eat well/clean 80% of the time, and your body will take care of the rest :happy:3 -
Why do you say you were too thin at 100lb? Do you know what your body fat was? While not perfect at all, the BMI is not too bad for people on the low end and at 100lb you would be at the low end of healthy. 110lb would be better as it is nicely within the healthy rage. However, a better indicator is body fat %.0

I say I was too thin because my body was telling me that I was too thin...fainting and the like. I'm an athlete and I work with large animals, I need to be sharp constantly. I don't know what my body fat percentage was, but it definitely wasn't working for me.1 -

Got it. Do you strength train? I know working with horses can be a workout in itself but one thing that is really beneficial in being able to get a better body composition (i.e. small but not weighing/eating too little) is strength training.
Also, you were probably not eating enough if you were fainting.0 -

You're right. I used to strength train a lot in high school, kind of lost it all when I moved out and started partying a lot- I'm getting back into it now, I feel like I need to relearn everything. Going to my first CrossFit class on Monday :-)2 -
I think you have a great attitude, you recognise that you need to be strong and healthy over skinny, it'll just take a while for all the parts of your brain to catch up with each other.
Defo do some strength training, lifting weight has done wonders for my body and mind! Would love to try crossfit (jealous)
Oh also your ink is aces0 -

I spent most of my life at 95lbs. I’m now sitting around 110. There are times I look at myself and feel huge and have to remember that I’m not skinny anymore. But I actually think I look WAY healthier at this weight. And I can donate blood now. Your goals are reasonable, and I’m glad to hear you are strength training. Don’t worry so much about the number as much about how you look and feel.0

Oh wow! It was right at the top of recents. I totally missed the date. Maybe someone commented and then deleted it.0 -

^^^^I LOVE this post so much!!
I lost 150 lbs at one point. After a year & a half of losing weight, it can be hard to flip the "off" switch. I just wanted to keep losing. I lost so much weight and instead of extremely obese, I was extremely skinny. I didn't look OR feel good. I felt faint all the time. I did some research & decided to strength train. Best decision ever. I feel so much better now but I understand completely where you're coming from, OP. I had to constantly battle my brain and tell myself that it was muscle I was gaining and not a bunch of fat. I think it's a struggle as well with the media showing girls who are air brushed or photo shopped in magazines. I'd rather be strong & sexy than weak and thin, like Mareeee1234 said.
