Just log your calories daily and stay within the deficit- then mix in some easy exercise- even if it’s just a 15 min walk - start somewhere - read the success story thread lots of advice and opinions in there - good luck

    You can't out-train a junk diet ( I know; I've tried ).

    other pearls of wisdom:

    Be consistent.
When you stumble (and everyone does), it's how you respond that counts.
Don't be afraid of the gym and make the most of your workouts. ( weights are your friend.)
It's going to take time, trial & error to achieve fitness. Be patient.

    Best of luck!

I was overwhelmed at first. But it was actually about taking one small step at a time. And after a while I was running at losing weight. There are many things to be said, but it would be hard in this small space.

Put your stats into My Fitness Pal - choose an appropriate weekly weight loss goal (no more than 1% of your current weight).

Eat food you like, but be sure to measure and log it first. Stay within your stated My Fitness Pal calorie goal.

If you choose to exercise (it's not required) - log that. Eat a portion of those calories too. Only a portion of those "earned" calories because they are estimated. Most people start with 50-75%.

Over time you can tweak your food choices, fit in more activity, and adjust exercise calories. Like Dude_It_Is_Time pointed out, take one step at a time. Learn as you go.
