Confused

I'm confused about something... I have my MFP linked with my FitBit to track steps. So... today I started with say 2000 calories. I had a 300 calorie breakfast. Then with just walking around the house it shows I've burned 200 calories. In my head, that would mean 2000 - 300 + 200 + 1900 cal. But instead MFP subtracts calories for exercising... saying 2000 - 300 - 200 = 1500. Essentially it's taking calories away from me for exercising. Seems incorrect me - anyone have any input on this?
Thank you in advance,
Jay

Do you have negative calories enabled?
It assumes you're going to burn calories at the same rate all day, starting at midnight, and adds or subtracts (if negative-enabled) for the whole day.0 -
I’m also a bit confused about the FitBit - just getting used to the site right now and the syncing. I did the elliptical this am and burned 500+ cals on my FitBit app but it’s only the step calories that transfered over, at least at that time of day (i think it was maybe around 280 cals or so). It has since increased with my activity throughout the day. Am I supposed to manually enter cals burned from a workout and if so, it seems like i have to do the math to calculate the difference of what the sync interpreted as steps vs. what my workout actually was. Now I see my calories from steps is in the high 600s, so maybe I just skip logging any exercises? Not sure about how this works...am trying to search the help. Seems so confusing.0

hello, im new here and need motivation. I plan on starting (my diet and exercise plan) at the beginning of the new year trying to lose 60 or more pounds. I'm trying look descent for my lil sisters graduation this coming May. I plan on doing the mayo clinic diet and the gm diet and repeating that until I get to my goal and also exercise at home and the gym. I have no workout partner to motivate me and I sometimes get lazy and have the mindset that i'll start the next day but the next day never comes.

This is a great thread to answer all your Fitbit questions. Basically, when you choose your activity level it will assume you will be at that level every hour. If you are less active during that time your calories will go down and if you are more active your calories will go up. This also includes the hours that you are asleep so first thing in the morning you will have negative calories.
