Hello,
So a little background, I'm a 21 year old female and have lost 81lbs so far, have only 3-4lbs to go I think Recently, I have not been eating enough food. I have been getting very obsessed about my calric intake, and not a 'healthy' obsessed way. Literally, the lower the calories I consumed = the happier me. However, I know this is not healthy and I am doing my body more harm than good. I have a few questions for those who have the time to answer them for me;

1. What is a good way to increase my calories so I consume at least 1200 a day? (At the moment it's more like 800-900) Bad, I know. I eat a lot of fruit and veggies at the moment. Please feel free to look at my diary to give me help

2. Last Sunday I weighed 9st 7.2. I weighed myself Friday and was 9st 6.8. Weighed myself Saturday and was 9st 7 exactly. Weighed myself this morning and 9st 6.2. So I have lost a pound from last week. BUT the question I want to ask is, is this because I ate more on Friday (I went over goal) and Saturday (I was very nearly at 1200). Because its a big jump to go from 9st 7 sat to 9st 6.2 today. Does that make sense? Has the extra food i've consumed on friday and saturday helped to lose this whole pound? If i had eaten just 800-900 cals on fri and sat, would the scale have stayed the same, at around 9st 7?

Does that make sense?! Sorry, trying to word it the best I can! In short terms I guess i'm saying did eating more those 2 days 'boost' my weight loss this week? or was it the exercise I did yesterday? Or is 2 days of 'normal' eating not enough to push the scale down?

Sorry for the long confusing post, itd be nice to get some answers and some encouragement to eat my 1200 calories! I WANT to be halthy!

Thank you

Kirsty x

  • Eating more can boost your metabolism and = weightloss. Think of it as a 'kick start' from starving yourself before.

    Well point 2 is about water retention. I have been slapped on the wrists for weighing in every day :) 1 Kg up means something happened (like a drought) and my body decided to store water. Cannot see it any where , but my scales do measure it !!.

    Point 1 is a little more difficult. I had to change my diet dramatically (well I went from trying and seceding to loos weight to gaining muscle). My new diet (not really a diet) might help you. Have more meals a day (just smaller) you should aim at 6 (yes SIX) meals a day with 1 fist sized amount of carbs and 1 fist sized amount of protein. Then throughout the day add 2 fist of vegies, 2 fists of fruit and 1 fist of dairy. Also don't skip the good fats, I am eating a lot of peanut butter, almonds, fish oil tablets, fish and am struggling to gain weight !!.

    Sounds like you are near your goal weight. Go back to the settings here are reset your goals before trying this just to make sure. As you loose weight you need less calories (although it sounds like you are eating very few, maybe your settings will come out OK).

    Friend me if you want another 2cents worth. Remember I am not qualified, just giving my personal experiences.

    I believe you're right. Eating more will boost the weight loss. That's why it's so important. Your body needs the fuel or it will never let go of the fat. Keep up the amazing work and do the right thing for your body. I know that you know what that is!

    Have a look at this thread - in particular there is a post from chevvy88.....I have seen her post many times that when she starts eating more she will lose weight - and if she eats less she will pick it up....

    Good ways to increase calories without eating a lot more is nuts, olives, full cream dairy instead of the low fat stuff, eggs, avocado, peanut butter...... and my personal favorite a little bit of good quality chocolate...

    Congratulations on your loss - fantastic results - and enjoy maintenance :-)
