Any (refined) sugar addicts?

During this time of year, it's difficult to stay on track and focused, so I started a group for like-minded folk to share their experiences, strength and hope (as well as gain support) in their struggles with sugar. If you can relate, please stop by:

Oh my gosh, Yes! This is definitely me! This is probably the hardest time of year for me to try to lose any weight because sugar is EVERYWHERE. Last night at my part time job was the worst in terms of "food"- I use that term loosely here, because I don't believe sugar-filled treats are truly food. I have the worst sweet tooth; if I eat even just one stupid little piece of candy, it opens up Pandora's Box. Next thing I know, I just crave more and more. It's awful. And then people tell me "Oh you can have just ONE, right? Gotta treat yourself once in a while." If I want to treat myself, I'll get my nails done. I'm not a dog, I don't need food for a "treat".17

I hear ya, I am the same way, there is no such thing as having just one! Glad to see that you joined the group. I've found that staying active and conversing with like-minded people, really helps. And I'm not aiming for perfection, just some progress, some high-fives, some virtual hugs, when needed.
If anyone is interested in joining, please come and hang: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/129744-sugar-addicts2 -

I'm addicted I have sugar in my coffee. I like it, not planning on giving it up, not sorry lol I tried cutting it back but it ruined the coffee so I settle for only having fewer mugs a day. A little indulgence each day keeps me on track. I still have a way to go & don't want to be constantly miserable 'penny pinching' calories. For me it works & the weight is going down, so I'm happy3

You're lucky you can indulge, I can't, my life depends on it.
Bumping for more like-minded folks. Come on and join us: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/129744-sugar-addicts1 -
Currently trying to wean myself off of sugar now. I think when I quit smoking it was easier to do!!! It’s horrible. But *kitten* after trying on the new bathing suits I ordered on line and looking like a stuffed sausage in them that was all the motivation I needed!!!1

Since from most of us this means we have to learn to accept our Denial of the fact so it is not a popular subject.3 -

GrokRock,
About ten years ago I was in a group that was focused on NO Sugar.
I can say that the Forbidden part of it just didn't work for me. I have a problem with sugar - or at least I did have a problem with sugar and I've learned to manage it most of the time. Sometimes I'll still have an entire bag of cookies, but meh - it's not gonna kill me. I'm at a healthy weight and all my blood results are good.
The NO part of our group became a big sticking point. Those trying to not eat any added sugar railed against those in the group who used the group as a kind of Confessional to talk about all the yummy treats they were so "bad" and had eaten.
It set up a Us vs Them mentality in the group and led to the group self-imploding. I don't know what the solution for that is - but the setting up of a group with its banner being a "NO SUGAR" graphic would put me off joining. It sounds way too much like a Rule and there are enough rules in life, to be honest.
I'm sure you will find your way. I'm just saying that expecting a sub-group on MFP to be the answer may be over-looking the very best Experience Strength and Hope that this site has to offer. There are solutions all over this site.2 -
