Ok...I'm currently just under 300 lbs. Diagnosed with MS, prediabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, etc.

Since I'm never home long enough to cook- I thought the Vitamix could help me change my life. (yeah it's an oversimplification).

I'm on MFP for a few reasons. I have 0 friends (literally no time), no social support, and realize I cant do this alone.

I've been watching you tube videos by Sergei Boutenko and Green Smoothie Girl. The first seems reasonable, (yet a little too good to be true ?) the second seems to be mostly geared toward pushing products.

I need to develop my own roadmap, kind of taking pieces from multiple sources, to customize what works for me.

So, educate me please.

Hi Kellie! My Vitamix was one of my best purchases. I use it all the time. I love green smoothies. They aren’t for everyone - but it’s a way of me getting in my daily greens. I use baby kale and spinach as my base and go from there. Don’t forget to calorie count each item. :)

Once you figure out a few recipes you like that are within your calories and way of eating- they become second hand throwing in all the green goodness and blending away!

Some things i make in the Vitamix:

Soup - it has a heat function! (Cream of broccoli soup has never tasted better IMHO) I use an avocado for creaminess. Cauliflower soup is also great. Cream of Tomato as well. If you are a bone broth fan - there are a lot of recipes on line for that as well.

Sorbet or ice cream- yep it has a cold function! (Spinach or beet sorbet - actually pretty darn good.) If you like ice cream but are watching your sugar- use cream, vanilla and sugar substitute. Anything can be customizable for your dietary needs.

Homemade nut butters- super creamy goodness.
Macadamia nut butter is a whole new world.

Homemade almond milk - game changer.

Homemade juices - I like a shot of carrot juice in the morning. It includes the pulp but it’s very refined, so you get the added fiber.

Homemade hummus. Defies the goodness limit. Lol

Homemade salsa or gazpacho- really good. I tried watermelon gazpacho- it was really nice.

Homemade Mayo- super easy and tastier then storebought. I make with fresh egg yolks.

Overall the Vitamix has helped me use more vegetables in recipes and it’s quick and easy to use. Hope you have a good time using it.

For green smoothies, make them into a balanced meal by adding protein powder and something for fat.

We've had ours for over 10 years. Love it.
Fun facts: cantaloupe seeds have a lot of protein.
Only the vitamix has the power to pulverize then to the other they can be digested.
Summer refresher, half frozen strawberries, half fresh strawberries, choice of sweetener, or none.
For adults that drink, add rum.
It is awesome for making your own hot sauces.
I make some death to tastebuds level hot sauce with Reaper peppers.
