I read an article is a well known health magazine about how eating a grapefruit can help reduce cravings... So I said ok... I'll give it a whirl, But I have come to realize that I'm still not a big fan of the fruit- When i was younger my mother ate it every morning and when she tried to feed it to me I called it "poo poo fruit"... Still kinda do... I ended up squeezing it and throwing a teaspoon of sugar in it then -chu-a-lug..

Please give me a better way to eat this fruit... I want to along with I have 4 more lol

It's the only thing that I simply cannot eat or even smell. It's evil. ;) Don't bother. Find something more tasty (anything else). You can make compost with the ones you have left. :D

I am not very good at this kinda thing cause when it comes to me not liking something I just won't eat it! Now I looked up feeling full and supplements and there is a lot on fiber pills that may help, and this yahoo answer thing

    1) There is this supplement called Hoodia. It has gotten a lot of attention because it makes you feel full.

    2) Another is inullin, its essentially fiber. So its makes you feel full as it expands in your stomach.

    3) Certain people have thought that caffeine can make you feel full but its over taken by the sudden urge in energy. Probably not recommending this one, but answers your question.

I use to love eating grapefruit, but can't now because it interacts with medicines I'm on. I guess you either like it or hate it--don't think there can be an inbetween. Plus putting sugar on it isn't really healthy. Maybe you can donate the other 4 to a food pantry or throw them around a little.

u could slice it up, put it in a tubberware container, drizzle it with sugar and cinnamon, fridge it for about 4 hours, then put it over some seasoned chicken then bake it until the chicken is cooked...make some brown rice and broccoli/carrots/califlower medley w butter...that should be a nice and tasty way to eat it :flowerforyou:

altho i do love "poo poo fruit', it does sometimes call for some sugar...lol

Cut one in half smear cut surfaces with honey leave at room temp for a few hours or overnight, then put flaked almonds on to and warm under a grill untill almonds turn golden.....yummy one of my fave breakfasts just have not had one in a while will pick one up at supermarket.
  • Take care because grapefruit affected your vitamins intake, It can killed them or anhanced the effect of vitamins. Me I do love it ...just the Rubby red one, i was eating this as an orange, but i'm trying to have a baby and i'm taking my vitamins (prenatal vitamins & folic acid) in morning, so i stopped eating during morning. Since then, i feel better. It was affecting my vitamins intake i was having huge headache.

Good luck with your diet :)

I love it but I can't eat it along with my hbp meds

Just be sure to buy the sweetest ones you can, some are very sweet and some are sour. I'm not a juice advocate, I don't think it's beneficial compared to actual fruit, but maybe a small glass would help for what you want to achieve?

Cut in half and pop it under the grill til it's hot through, warming it like that can make it seem less acidic, a little honey might be a better option than sugar if you really can't eat it without some sweetness?

Sorry, I can't be much help, I love love love grapefruit. The only thing is, I do not eat any of the "skins". I don't eat the outside peel or the inside "section dividers" (I have no idea what these are called). It takes a lot of work. I first peel the grapefruit, then I split open each section and take out the juicy pieces. I put those in a bowl and throw away the rest. I eat the juicy pieces just as they are.

I HATE grapefruit. However, my boyfriend is making me drink grapefruit juice 12oz every morning. He says it will help me being hungry less, speed up my metabolism and help with my digestive system. And it does pretty much all that. I hate it though, even drinking it. BUT. I just chug it and I'm good. It's tolerable.

I use the red/ruby grapefruit as I find it better than the plain one.

I segment it, put 3/4 strawberries with it along with the juice from the grapefruit. Chill in the fridge and serve some greek style naturla yoghurt with it later on. It's been my mid-aft snack in work now for months and I LOVE it!!!! It's soooo much better chilled, nearly iceicle (sp!) cold is better.

I was the same way, but now I love it because I sprinkle cinnamon on it. =) Cinnamon boosts your metabolism. So, it's a win, win.

I figured it out... i tried the toasted grapefruit and brown sugar thing... Fabulous if i may say so.. but i still felt guilty about the sugar...
I like ... no love it this way

    1 whole grapefruit squeezed
    !00% cranberry juice

1part cranberry to 2parts grapefruit... So delicious! and no sting.. Even tastes good if you toast then juice the fruit before squeezing
    Serve over ice and enjoy!:drinker:

I've heard that the scent of grapefruit can help to curb your appetite. And it does smell heavenly! Try using some grapefruit hand lotion several times a day or adding grapefruit essential oil to your shampoo.

I love grapefruit so much! It's something I crave when I'm thirsty for some reason. I used to put sugar on top when I was a teen but now I just eat it straight with a spoon. My kids love them too. I usually have to fight them for them.;)

I peel it like an orange and eat the segments.

IMHO, grapefruit works as weight loss as a hunger test -- if you're not hungry enough to eat grapefruit, you're not really hungry, so put the FiberOne bar down.
