Calculate calories for weightlifting

Fitness Pal does not accommodate a calculation for weightlifting (or any strength exercises). How can I include those calories burned in my diary/log?

Don't log your weightlifting in the "strength exercises" tab. Instead choose cardio, and look up strength training or weight lifting as an exercise (although the available option will probably overestimate how many calories you are burning). A quick Google search with your age and weight can approximate how many calories you should burn per hour while weightlifting.

Weightlifting (unless you are doing a circuit type training and even then not that much) doesnt really burn too many extra calories during your workout. I dont log my lifting as a calorie burn.

I have always logged and ate back all my weight lifting calories using the MFP estimate. Look under ‘cardio’, ‘strength training’.

It is not a high calorie burn but, as a small woman with not a lot of calories, those extra calories mean I am well fuelled to to perform at my best in the gym, and not sacrificing my daily activities because I am burnt out/fatigued/injured.

If you are a person with high calories, the 100-200 from an hour of lifting may not mean a lot, but for someone who is eating 1200-1400 cals those couple of hundred cals are needed.

    Cheers, h.

Only the CV part of the exercise diary has calorie functionality, the strength part is just a journal.
The rough estimate assumes standard style of strength training with recovery of 2-4 mins between sets, log the entire duration of your lifting session.
