I just simply think to myself "is it really worth the calories and set back" 9 times out of 10 the answer is nope!

Replace it with something else...gum, water...and if you can't fight it off, just control your portion, have a little and move on! Allow yourself an occasional treat and it won't be so tabou (sp?) and you'll be able to resist it most of the time.

That is my problem!! If I put my hand down the cookie jar I'll have 10...not 1!! Which is how I got over weight in the first place!!
  • I use to not be able to curb my tremendously large sweet tooth until I found something that diminished it down to nothing. Prior to that I would think nothing of eating an entire bag of hershey kisses (Yup there was no control). I am sooo glad to say that those days are behind me and that my cravings even for coffee, sweets, and unhealthy carbs are now allowing me to eat healthy and be
    healthy!

Feel free to friend me for some calorie free food for thought every day! Best of luck to you ....and also one more thing... many times when we think we are hungry it is really your body telling youthat your thirsty so drink your h2O before opening that bag of chips!

Craving a chocolate chip cookie (if you enjoy them) is not a strange craving, it's very natural to desire foods that you enjoy. Most times I ask Myself "what am I trying to accomplish by changing My eating habits." I also give Myself a "Treat" now and then so I have a psychological "hold card" that help stave off cravings. I am changing My eating habits but I also want to be realistic about what I really want and will do.

hahaha...pretty much my only craving is chocolate. which is why I got fat in the first place!!! I do not crave chocolate anymore so much, but i do crave the occasional cookie when I smell it!!!! :( vacationing in Singapore (best place for food!) does not help either!

I think, "Is this the ABSOLUTE best cookie/piece of cake/brownie/etc. that I can imagine right now? Will it taste as good as I think it will?" If the response is "omfg YES," then I eat it and don't feel guilty. Then I won't "treat" myself for the rest of the week. This works about 85% of the time, haha. This way, it has to be worth it.

Regarding chocolate cravings, if you eat oatmeal, add one tablespoon (yes, the whole thing) to your oats. It's super chocolately and amazing. The best part is, it's breakfast. ;D

I hope this helps! Good luck <3

If you really crave something that much, you are denying yourself stuff, which is bad. Allow yourself to have one of the things you really want, then just work the calorie count into your daily limit. Have less snacks later on, that kind of thing. If you deny yourself things your craving grows. If you say you CAN have whatever you really fancy, just allow for the calories from your daily currency, you find you dont really crave things that much anymore.

Honestly, old-fashioned, plain Hershey's Extra Dark Cocoa powder, haha. I don't believe in protein powder, but you could add that instead if you want, and just use milk instead of yogurt (unless you want it super duper thick and creamy).

Here's what I do for overnight oats:
    1. The night before, mash up one banana, and add 1/2 tsp. of vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon, one tablespoon cocoa powder, pinch of salt, 1/3 c. rolled oats, one tablespoon ground flax seed (can use chia seeds instead--this helps it get all gooey and pudding-like) and 1/2 c. greek yogurt. Mix well.
    2. Add one cup of frozen berries-- for chocolate, I use raspberry. Fold these in; don't mash them up
    3. Stick it in the fridge overnight! Don't touch until morning.
    4. In the morning, take it out of the fridge, give it one final mix, add in whatever else you want (I'll do a tablespoon or two of almond butter, though peanut would be good too, or unsweetened dried coconut), and revel in the delicious, chocolatey goodness you just created! <3

You can also blend everything in a blender in the morning to make it like a pudding-shake. Good luck! ;D

For me, eating often throughout the day and incorporating my favorite things here and there works. If I do come across something that I feel like I have to have, I quell the impulse and work it into the next day through planning. This way you can also control whats going in your body by making it yourself (if you have time.)
