Committing...and Ready!

As I prepare to make healthy choices, I thought one important aspect of my journey was committing to some life changes to myself. I thought outlining these goals on MFP would make them all the more real and keep me accountable :).

For the foreseeable future, I will:

Drink more water, more consistently - goal of 100 oz. a day.
Exercise 6 days a week - this will include at least 2 days of yoga per week, 1-2 sessions of strength training, 4-5 days of 30 mins+ cardio (some days will do more than one).
Eat when hungry - pause when I'm about to eat to ensure I'm truly hungry.
Eat 3 meals a day, with snacks, as needed.
Cut back on sugar from my diet - this includes candy, cookies, snacks, and sweets in general.
Include at least 5 fruit/vegetable servings per day.
Include some protein into each meal.
Add in additional activity, when available; this includes taking the stairs when at work (I work on the third floor) and getting up at least every hour to walk around the office (some days, I'm sitting for hours), and going with my husband when he walks the dog.

I don't want to make myself crazy with "rules", but thought it important to be specific in my goals and actions that will move me into a healthier lifestyle.

Thanks for letting me share!

I think those are very attainable "rules," but don't beat yourself up if you break one of them. Weight loss is all about moderation, not restriction :) Welcome! Feel free to add me if you'd like and if you're interested, I have a good support group going on!

Good stuff! I'm on my second go-round of MFP myself after a month of slacking, and it's all about staying motivated :) good luck, and feel free to add me!
  • We are at about the same place as far as the stats go. I still have not really set my mini goals and I need to. On your profile where did you add all of that info?
I think you have approached it very logically, you know where you want to be and have set yourself up for success.

You can add me as a friend, I have just joined in August.

    You can do this!

    Thanks everyone for the encouragement~!

I added all of the weight information and goals into my signature. In terms of the graph that shows weight loss, I believe I created this through tools and then copied and pasted it into my signature. I think there's a forum on the welcome board that talks about the avatars.

It's great to know I'm not alone and there are other with similar goals! Good luck to all!

You can SOOOO do it! Your goals are great, and very realistic. Make sure you check out the MFP message boards, as there are a lot of inspirational/motivational stories on here.

If I can make a suggestion about sweets/sugar: whenever I crave sugar, I eat some fruit. It satisfies the craving and it counts toward your fruit/vegetable quota for the day.
