in need of motivation

Hey,
Im still fairly new to MFP and so far being on here I have lost 5 pounds, in total I have lost 20 pounds from before and during being on MFP. I had become frustrated with how my life and my looks were going and decided to make a change. I really made a change in how I ate not really in exercising because I really despise exercising! but just tried to make a point of walking to work instead of getting and drive and little things like that. Most people would think that since I have already lost 20 pounds that that would be motivation enough but for some reason it's not, I'm not exactly sure what it is that I need to kick me in the butt but I need something. I'm actually heading to Australia in 23 days and would LOVE nothing more than to walk around in a bikini without a care in the world but I just don't see it happening and I think maybe that's why I'm feeling discouraged because I don't think that I will be able to achieve my goal within the last 23 days. I don't exactly have a goal weight because I think I'm trying to achieve a look more than a number on the scale but at the moment I'm down to 123 and would love to be 115. I think I need to loose a little bit more weight then mostly do some toning. Do you guys think that it's possible for me to achieve this within the next 23 days? maybe all I need is a little bit of reinsurance that I'm able to accomplish this goal and some support. What kind of exercises do you guys suggest to help with this?
Sorry that this is so long,
thanks for listening!

Marissa

  • You can totally do this. 115 is pretty low though, how tall are you?? My height is 5'5 and my goal weight is 120! I'm trying to lose 10 pounds over the next 20 days too (trying to go half way :P) before my big anniversary!

How tall are you? Because 123 to me seems very thin/in shape...but then, I'm 5'6". As for exercise, I definitely needed motivation at first, but now it's become not only a habit, but something I look forward to. I'll add you as a buddy for support! :flowerforyou:

And don't feel upset about not meeting your goal in such a short time...I know I used to get very frustrated when the weight wouldn't just come off overnight. In fact, I STILL feel that way...but I have to remind myself that I didn't put this weight on overnight, so it sure isn't going to come off overnight.
  • at 123 I am sure that you look amazing in a bikini...I would focus on toning everything up and be happy with your body...enjoy your vacation and be kind to yourself...forget the stupid scale and the number it reports....in fact just throw the damn scale out the window and start toning...

I agree completely. Sometimes the scale can be cruel! I say tone and the look you are going for you will achieve.

I know you said you hate exercise, but you also commented about toning. Muscle burns more calories than fat so by building (toning) your muscle, whatever fat you may have left is more likely to melt. I have seen (and experienced myself) dramatic changes after only 3 weeks when I added exercise. Although, seriously, I'm sure you will look AMAZING in your bikini. Focus on having FUN while you are in australia. A smile goes a LONG way to improving the way people perceive you. But the most important thing is how YOU perceive yourself.

Aw, thank you guys so much I'm already feeling so much better just by reading everything you guys have said, every comment put a smile on my face! =D I'm only 5 feet so every pound shows and my weight is all in my tummy. I know that I should be focused more on having fun on my vacation but I would love to just walk around without a care in the world. Either way whatever happens I will try my best to walk around with my head high but I guess I should just have the mind set that I will be able to achieve my goal. As I said I'm not a fan of working out so I've mostly been walking I do have a track near my house so I'm gunna try and run that every now in then doing a 10 lap minimum and must do at least 5 of those running the other 5 power walking. I'm going to try and do at least 50 crunches a night. Hopefully that will be good what do you guys think? Any other suggestions of work outs that you guys like doing and you think really help you?

again thank you so much for all your comments!
  • First of all, don't be so hard on yourself. That will get you nowhere. You have to believe in yourself and have faith that you can do this. Ok, so you have 23 days to make something happen?? I love doing Jillian Michaels workouts. Her most popular ones are 30 Day Shred and Ripped In 30. They are awesome workouts that will get you amazing results! You have 23 days and these workouts are 30 days. I bet your results in 23 days would be awesome! Whatever you choose to do, don't get discouraged if you don't see the results as fast as you had hoped for. You probably already look amazing and shouldn't even worry about it. Rock your bikini with confidence girl! You totally got this :)

    Good luck to you!!
