Weighing food question

Probably a silly question- but should you weigh your food before or after it is cooked? And I made rotini pasta tonight and scanned the barcode but it didn’t have unprepared or prepared on the description. So how do you know if what you scan is the uncooked or cooked version of the calories?
Any info is helpful- just want to make sure I’m tracking correctly

Pasta is usually (always?) uncooked. It will absorb different amounts of water based on cooking time, altitude, etc.6

As a rule I weigh everything uncooked.
The cooking process will either add water (like with pasta) or remove water (like with meat) and depending on how it is cooked the amount that is added/lost (and consequently the increase/decrease in weight) will differ so raw/uncooked weighing is more accurate.5 -

Thanks everyone. That is kind of what I had thought but was second guessing myself. And no sense tracking things incorrectly ☺️1
