What do YOU do when you're craving sweets?

Hello! Been a MFP user for about 6 weeks now and doing really great with sticking to my meal plans (more or less) lol. I found the hardest challenge for me was cutting down on sweets especially cake, chocolate and those lovely miniature fun size candies. Are there any fellow sweets addicts out there that have advice/alternatives to controlling the urge? (other than extreme discipline ;p). Much appreciated! Thanks!

Blue Bunny no sugar, reduced fat, Brownie Sundae ice cream. It's only 90 calories & very yummy!0

I drink more water. Especially if it's after 9pm. I'm tryin so hard 2 break a few habits, sugar being one of them and eating ANYTHING after 9 being the other. They say if you drink enought water your cravings will go away so i'm giving that a shot.0

i have some dark chocolate kisses, or just chew gum. Planter's makes these new "dusted" almonds.. Flavor Grove, they're called. really yummy!0

I'm a dark chocolate addict so I keep a bag of hershey's dark chocolate nuggets with almonds in the freezer. When I crave chocolate I go ahead and eat 2. has worked so far!0

Nature Valley Granola Thins with Dark Chocolate - Skinny Cow Fudge topped chocolate cone - lower calorie candy (york peppermint patties). That's how I handle them. I do have full fat ice cream in my freezer, which I had a little of this evening, however I find that I'm able to control myself and not eat it unless I have enough calories left for the day.0

Eat a little bit!! Don't deprive yourself of anything... if you're anything like me I hold off and hold off until suddenly I binge on something. So just have a little bit to satisfy the craving and move on.0

I will have a 1/2 cup or less of ice cream. I also keep 2 Hershey's special dark kisses in my purse. I will pop one at work if I am starting to lose my mind mid afternoon.0

I cheat with protein it may not be as sweet to others but I don't eat much sugar anyway so it's perfect but I eat Clif bars. My favorite flavor is white chocolate macadamia nut0

My motto is moderation. To say that I am going to cut out salty and sweet snacks completely, would be crazy to me. So I just have a serving of a particular sweet or salty snack or I find 100 calories snacks that I use as a substitues. I also opt for fruits such as cherries and strawberries.0

Dove sugar free chocolates. Individually wrapped. Or also York peppermint - I am always one and done.0

I eat jello or fruit (= Or if I have too, I get a little cup of frozen yogurt with a fruit topping or go buy a skinny cow. Low calories (=0

I have a cake recipe from the old Weight Watchers plan that I make (it's 1 point) and put a 1/3 cup Blue Bunny strawberry frozen yogurt and 1/2 a banana on it with 1/2 tablespoon of Hershey's light syrup drizzled over it. It's completely delicious and only about 130 calories. It fills up an entire regular sized bowl.
Also, Philly Swirls makes a 14 calorie popsicle called a Delite that is WONDERFUL! Tastes just like a creamsicle!0 -
I chew gum. Helps keep the mouth happy, and lots of options for 5 calories.0

Have you ever heard of Sorbee hard candies? They have many varieties of chocolate flavoured candies in addition to the usual fruit varieties (http://www.sorbee.com/Sugar-Free-Hard-Candy.html). For 4 candies: 25 calories, 0 g sugar, 0 g fat!0

I eat the 100 calorie fudge brownie packs...yummy!0

I eat just a little bit, but I savor it. I don't want to binge later. Substitutions don't really work for me because then I'll still want whatever it was. Sometimes water helps though0

When I crave sweets I have some! I don't deprive myself because it makes losing weight harder than it has to be. I have a little taste and i factor it into my calories for the day. I have discovered frozen yogurt and it has been a life saver! It is low in calories and it always hits the spot and helps me stay on track! Don't deprive yourself of the things you crave...just eat smart! You have to enjoy life along the way! It will help you succeed! Good luck to you!0

I am a sugar-a-holic. Just saying.... I love to watch the show on HGTV called "cupcake wars", but it always makes me want something sweet. One other person posted that its best not to have that kind of stuff in the house, and I agree. i do keep things like Jello fat free pudding cups, or other 100 calorie type snacks so I can have something when I have a craving for sweets. I've found that after I've been eating healthy for a few weeks that when I do indulge in some kind of big dessert, I end up not feeling that well afterwards. It's important for me to make a mental note when that happens, so I can remember next time that maybe I only need a spoonful, or that I didn't really like the way it made me feel, so I won't have any. I'm trying to watch my sugar,,, and I do a better job of it now that I'm on MFP.
Good suggestions for low calorie sweets and foods, HungryGirl.com -She also has a show on HGTV Sunday mornings 9CST0 -
Nature Valley Granola Thins with Dark Chocolate
Just tried one of these today. They're awesome! Very filling too.
When I'm craving sweets, I just move away from the kitchen and find something else to do. After a while, I'll forget about it.0 -
Noted, thanks a bunch for the feedback everyone! Will definitely look into some of the stuff mentioned, last week was a rough week so kinda overdosed with the chocolate comfort food lol. Will definitely get back on track tomorrow! d^^b:happy:

tried this recipe tonight..really yummy, satisfied the craving but under 130 calories (as long as you make 12 cookies from the recipe and eat one). even a couple is ok if you have the calorie room for the day. http://www.thegraciouspantry.com/clean-eating-chocolate-chip-cookies/0

Fiber one bars oats and chocolate are amazing! They taste like a candy bar and are really good for you and are actually filling0

I'll sometimes have a small bit of whatever it is I'm craving. Like 1 or 2 pieces off of a Kit-Kat. Which is my candy bar weakness. Or I have sweet snacks to cut the sweet cravings, like Nature Valley bars. I get the dark chocolate and nut ones--they're pretty much held together with honey and I love that honey and chocolate flavor. My husband prefers the Fiber One version, chocolate and oats. That one has a nice drizzle of chocolate on top of the whole bar too. 140 calories and they make a great snack.
If I have one of those when I'd normally have a snack anyway, it makes it easier to say no to the bad stuff later.0 -
I make a glass of crystal light with lots of ice and chew the ice0
-
Sounds weird, but if you brush your teeth, you won't want to eat sweets. Works for me0
