Tracking HIIT type exercises

Hi, I’m new (again) to MFP. Sorry if this has already out there somewhere. Im just wondering what the best way of tracking A HIIT style workout? Do you just enter everything separately! Also, looking for accountability partners. I’m a breast cancer survivor and trying to get back in shape after almost 8 years of treatment!

I’ve just added it based on the calorie burn. So fitness blender shows you approximately what youve burnt, so I just add a cardio and figure out the minutes that would equal my work out. Does that make sense? Ex: HIIT workout =500 cal. On MFP I’d input jumping jacks 20 min.

Log it as the type of exercise it is. People use HIIT to describe lots of different things. If you're doing HIIT mode weight circuits, log it as circuit training. If it's HIIT calisthenics, log it as that. If it's walk/run on a treadmill, record it that way. And so forth. If it's a mix of things (say, partly weights, partly calisthenics, either log it 50/50 (or some other rational division), or make your own exercise and use a calorie estimate midway between the two things it's made up of.

Just make your best approximation. (You'll want to monitor progress, and adjust your calorie goal after 4-6 weeks experience, if that turns out to be needed. Try to be consistent and accurate about logging your exercise, but don't let it cause anxiety or stress.)

Welcome: I'm an 18-year survivor of stage III breast cancer and the full menu of treatment, and have been active since shortly after treatment, but didn't lose weight until about 4 years ago when I joined MFP. Currently maintaining.
  • Thank you so much!! And it’s so wonderful to hear about 18 year survivors!!!!! I really gained weight and am trying to be diligent about losing now that I am only on a pill every day!

I will try and track the way you suggested!! Thanks!
