I am suppose to eat 1610 a day to lose 1 pound a week. When I logged in my calories that I burn on the treadmill which was 722, the calories I am suppose to eat went up to 2,332. So am I suppose to eat the 1610 for the day or the 2,332. I am trying to get pregnant and I do not want to gain weight. Though I want to make sure that I am eating enough calories and not burning off to many calories. I had a miscarriage in Feb and my husband and I are trying to get pregnant. I had not had my period for 5 months and I just got it last month. So I started to go on myfitnesspal a month ago to make sure that my calories were good. If anyone can answer this, this would mean the world to me.

Myfitnesspal calculates a calorie deficit into your daily calories, so the more calories you burn in exercise, the more calories you can eat and still lose weight. Thus, without exercise, eat 1,610 to lose weight. If you exercised on the treadmill and earned an extra 722 calories, you can eat the total of 2,332 and still will be on track to lose the pound a week. Just keep in mind that fitness equipment estimates of calories burned can be off as much as 10-20%, so if you are really concerned, maybe only eat an additional 570 calories as opposed to all 722. Hope that helps!

Why don't you have this conversation with your doctor?

    I agree.
    See your OBGYN.
Especially since you just had a miscarriage.
Make sure what you do is the healthiest thing for you and your future child, THEN worry about the scale AFTER you have a baby.

Didn't you know that all of the answers to life's mysteries are on the internet? I agree with Heather and Robin, latch onto your doctor and heed his advice...keeping a nice figure should be WAAAAAYYYYYY down the list of priorities when trying to conceive and carry a new baby to full term. You have all of the time in the world to lose the baby fat AFTER that precious child is born.

Eat well, eat healthy, excercise within the limits of what your doctor allows, but remember, you are eating for TWO...calorie deficits take on a different meaning then...

    Good luck!
