I counted my calories exactly, worked out 5 days that week....and I gained 1.4 lbs! Grrr! I'm so upset! What did I do wrong? I had a lot of fruits and veggies..protein...everything was right on. I take that back...one day my sugar was over. But, other than that....I'm so frustrated!

Are you getting all your water in? The one thing with working out is that you could be losing a ton of inches and not alot of weight - although both will catch up with each other the closer you get to your goal. Also, are you retaining any water? Try eliminating additional salt from your diet and adding a cup or two of green tea per day and see if that helps. Just stick with it, don't get discouraged, you will get it off.0

Take your measurements and see if they are changing. Sometimes that is better than the scale. Often I want to throw the scale out the window, even when I notice my clothes are fitting better.0

Scale = bad
Tape measure = good
The question I always ask beginners is...... how do you FEEL??
Feeling better should not be treated as a by-product of what we're after, but rather a primary goal. Your tape measure is going to be your best friend, not the scale.
We must keep the big picture in mind at all times, or that scale will creep up on us and terrorize to no end. Congratulations, you've LOST 10 LBS! YAY YOU!!!!! :flowerforyou: Try to keep that in mind and just keep plugging another couple months and that should all change for you! We're here with you, hun!0 -
A couple of thoughts. First you don't have alot to lose so it comes off slower. Second, women retain water easily. So don't let the scale frustrate you. It's normal to be up a few lbs then down at any given time of the month. If I go to my moms for a couple of days I easily gain 3. It's the change in foods. I lose it again when I go back to my normal eating.
I would keep doing what you are doing for a few more weeks. If you are still not losing then I would look at your calorie intake. Are you eating your exercise calories? Don't assume you need to eat less. Sometimes we need more so our bodies have enough fuel to burn. It really is a trial & error but you need to give it a chance to see what is going to work for you.
Dont' get discouraged, keep at it, those lbs will come off.0 -
Should I be eating my excercise calories? Does it help you lose weight faster?0

Perhaps try boosting your excercise routine by 30minutes each day? :drinker:0

This link has lots of links in it to posts that talk about eating all of your calories. I'd read some of them.

The easiest way to explain it for me is to think about your car. It can't get you to where you need to go if you don't put gas in it. Our bodies are the same way. They need a certain amount of fuel/nutrition/calories to function. When we exercise we use up some of that fuel. Then we need to put more fuel in so we still have enough left over for basic functioning. If you aren't giving your body enough fuel for functioning it gets worried and starts to conserve. That's when people talk about starvation mode. You won't lose because your body is to busy conserving.
Some here don't eat their exercise calories. Some only eat part of them. I think if you aren't losing and you aren't eating them it's definately worth trying. MFP builds in a 500 cal deficit. So even when you eat them you are still eating enough to lose.
Again, read some of the other posts. There is alot of good info in them.0 -
