You can't spot reduce fat. Genetics determines where you store fat and in what order it comes off, not drinking or smoking. To lose it you'll have to eat at a deficit.

I'm 6'2" and had to drop to 180 before my gut was gone. If you are a football player you probably have a lot more muscle than me but I'm guessing you will still need to lose at least 15-20 pounds. As the previous poster mentioned, where it comes off first is a matter of genetics. Eating healthy won't make you lose weight, you need to consume less calories.

How old are you? If you are concerned about your performance on the field, then I would't worry much about the belly - just do more of a re- comp & get stronger & quicker

Are you a college student on a team? At my son's college, they have a dietician and a trainer available at all time. I would start there. The dietician for my son's school will create a meal plan and even tell him exactly what to get in the school cafeteria based on the week's menu. She will work directly with the trainer who will give him a workout regimine for the off season.
