Is there way using the database to see nutrition for two or more food items side by side so I can make good choices? If not, is there another tool you recommend?

Eatthis.com is good one for comparing and finding swaps.

Thanks for the response but I don't see where I can compare say, Cheerios to Life cereals. Can I do that on that site?

No. Follow the advice @cmriverside gave you to compare. It's not side by side but it gives you the information you're looking for.

You can enter them both into your food diary and look at them ...but there isn't a side-by-side function.

Enter them into the FOOD page, delete the ones you decide against. I do that a lot. I'm already searching from the FOOD page and it's just one click to remove it.

I do this all the time too! Sometimes my brain doesn't want to do maths in my head, so I need to see it in print

Me, too. Especially with my dessert choices, to see what better fits my calorie/macro goals for the day.

I have actually started planning meals for the next day by entering different items into each meal and seeing how it turns out and then just deleting them and reentering when I actually eat those things.
