If someone is continuing to be a keto dieter, wouldn't that tend to involve them recommending the diet?
To the extent it actually works, it works the same way as most weight loss: a person takes in fewer calories than they expend, forcing the body to use up fat stores to make up the energy difference.
Some people claim to feel less appetite or more active when adapted to ketosis - that's going to be individual and possibly dependent on how one eats within the diet.. Some people claim it does some kind of metabolism magic, but the science doesn't support that.5 -
Lovin it . Best thing I've done to date . Cut out bad carbs and eating mostly green vege and what ever protien your into chuck in an avocado here an there . Down 5kg and 4cm in 2wks of been 100% on it . I played around for a wk or 2 with the food beforehand to see if it was for me first . But I still had the odd cake here and there , now 100% no carbs .9

"How" the diet works is by forcing your liver to produce ketone bodies which your cells can use for energy.
All humans are born in nutritional ketosis and with a large bodily supply of fat energy. Mother's milk is keto food.
By forcing your liver to produce ketones, you force your cells to become better able to use ketones, and last of all you force your brain to use ketones for energy. This process brings an end to hunger, as your bodily supply of fat is huge, your body never perceives a shortage of available energy. Of course, you can leave ketosis by eating a high carb meal. You can return to ketosis by resuming keto levels of net carbs.8 -
Look for dr Eric Berger videos on utube..I just started and it's helping me to understand it all and how to count my macros each day4

Ketosis just means that you eat a diet low enough in carbs, usually under 20-50g, so your body mainly uses fat and ketones for fuel while lowering old insulin and glucose levels. This can make weight loss a bit easier for some, mainly those with IR, and it also can help by reducing appetite and cravings. It still comes down to a calorie deficit in the end.
It can also help with some health issues.1 -

Not really. How the "diet" works is the same as how low carb works -- for some people eating that way makes it easier for them to eat fewer calories, often to the point of just eating below maintenance, at least for a while, without doing anything else. Part of this is that for some it takes away hunger, but IMO a bigger or more common part is that it makes it impossible to stay on the diet and eat mindlessly and likely cuts out trigger foods and foods the person was used to overeating.6 -

I believe that your meant to transition once you have become fat adapted or was it ketone adapted . Basically when you reach a point where your body is using ketones carbs can be increased slightly at which point fat drops a bit also to balance the calories . Tho I do find like any DIET everyone has different points of view and its best to find what works for the individual within safe boundaries .2 -
Thank you for all the answers everybody0
