I've been on keto for two weeks now. I have lost 13 lb. I will continue on keto for the rest of my life. I feel good so far.

You have likely lost a great deal of water weight. That will taper off and you will continue to see steady but smaller loss if you eat in a defecit. If keto helps you eat in a defecit that is great. Keto for life sounds horrible to me but I love my pasta and bread. Good luck to you.0

I’m a Type 2 Diabetic, and Keto has brought my A1c from nearly 12 to just over 5. I’m not letting anybody yuck my yum. Have your pasta and bread. I’ll keep my toes and my feet and my kidney function and my eyesight. I’ll happily take that trade-off!4

And Jermaine, yes, the rate of weight loss will slow down. But you won’t be hungry, so you’ll be able to maintain it. Good job and Keto On!2

I don't think anyone was yucking your yum (sounds like someone has been to a Tastefully Simple party or two) or anyone elses. In fact, I told him good luck. Vegetarianism sounds horrible to me because I love steak. That doesn't mean I don't think anyone else should eat a plant based diet. A low carb high fat diet would be disastrous for me because fats don't fuel my runs and my training - carbs do. To each his/her own.
I was prediabetic for years before I got the notice that I was .1 away from a full diabetes diagnosis. I finally began to seriously take care of myself. I exercise and I eat a balanced diet that includes carbs. Eating in a defecit with balanced macros resulted in weight loss and prevented me from becoming a full on diabetic. Eating foods I enjoy but in moderation is my key to success.
This is a quote from the American Diabetes website:
"Choose a plan that you are likely to follow long-term that fits your diabetes goals and personal needs. Think about your likes and dislikes and how a change to your eating will affect your day to day life with family and friends as well as your personal weight loss goals. Budget also plays a part in choosing the right healthy eating plan that will meet your needs.- There is not a “one size fits all” eating pattern for people with diabetes.
- Many different eating patterns are reasonable for managing diabetes.
- Work with a registered dietitian or certified diabetes educator on a meal plan that is right for you."
If keto works for you, you do you. Good luck to you both.3 -
Debra you have been misinformed. Keto is not plant based. you can have steak and meats just very low carbs like bread, pasta. Please read about it before you say things you do not understand.

Plant based keto is quite possible - MCT oil, coconut oil, macadamia nuts, brazil nuts, avocado, hemp and chia seeds, pea protein, kalamata olives and olive oil, leafy greens, asparagus, nutritional yeast, green tea and coffee all fit in a vegan keto lifestyle.
I like my eggs, bone broth, bacon and ground beef way too much to give up, but keto is not exclusively carnivorous0 -

I know what keto is. I never said Keto is plant based. I was making a comparison. As in, just because I like carbs doesn’t mean I don’t think others should do keto...just because I love meat doesn’t mean I don’t think others should be vegan.
Please read and comprehend before you say things you do not understand.1
