Hello All My name is Sara and I am 45. I am getting help of Myfitnesspal app to Record my intakes and Exercises. I tend to have sweet tooth and drink calorie drinks I need to put a stop on this. Any ideas how I can overcome my cravings?

I’ve recently developed a pretty big craving for soda too honestly I think it just comes down to what I want more soda or my physique... also substituting things that are sweet but low cal helped too, like mio. My wife likes substituting carbonated water or seltzer because it reminds her of soda I just don’t like them that much

There are 2 camps. Eliminate sweets, or limit sweets in a way that helps you manage intake.

I've done diets where I eliminated sweets. But that was short sighted because weight loss is just the first step. Maintenance (step 2) takes work, it doesn't just "happen." Maintenance is forever.

Strategies to manage intake. A 200 calorie (or so) budget for treats each day. Don't set such an aggressive weekly weight loss goal that you can't fit a treat in each day.

100 calorie packs, saving the treat until later in the day, going out for the treat (instead of keeping it in the house).

There are so many sugar-free beverage options. I like fruity flavored iced tea. I used to use sugar, but gradually reduced the amount I used, and now unsweetened is "normal."

Nothing wrong with soda - I like diet A&W root beer (low acid). There are 10 calorie sodas too, just a little sugar if you don't like the taste of fake sweetener. You eventually get used to the taste. I would much rather have a Ghiradelli dark chocolate square and a diet Coke, than just a regular Coke.
