I'm a MAMIL - I dress for cycling performance and comfort. Frankly tight fitting cycling shorts isn't a good look, do try to keep eye contact when talking to a cyclist.....
In summer I wear a boot lace under the rim of my cycling helmet to channel the copious sweat away from my eyes as it makes them really sore. Probably looks silly, shrug.
For winter cycle training in the gym I'm wearing a singlet to keep from overheating but also gloves as the fan I need to stop myself completely dissolving switches off the blood supply to my hands - it probably looks ridiculous but again I don't really care. It's a gym not a fashion show!2 -
I wear a headband. I have curly hair and the headbands help contain the flyaways. I also use them to keep my ears warm when I run outside in the cold.
My head isn’t really shaped right for headbands though so I’m constantly adjusting them. They tend to end up across my forehead 80’s style. But the sweat and the flyaways don’t get in the way and I’m not hoping to make an impression when I work out so anyone judging me isn’t worth my time anyway.0 -
I wear them - I sweat a lot too, and it helps keep my hair out of my face, even if I have it pulled back I think the band feels better. I wouldn’t be too concerned about fashion at the gym, I mean everyone’s just getting all sweaty and stinky anyway, right?1

Thanks for the replies! Went to the gym this morning with my headband and while once again was the only one, but I figured I would look far worse drenched in sweat lol. Was definitely a more productive workout not having to wipe sweat off my face every 30 seconds!7

I wear one if I know I'm going to get sweaty.0

I wear a buff to run or if doing a cardio blast. Can fold/roll it in many different ways including as a headband. They come in some really funky or pretty designs too0

I wear one for a few weeks after each hair cut when the layers aren't quite long enough to fit into my ponytail. I used to have the same problem with them slipping around, but I found one (at a grocery store!) that has a gummy rubber strip inside which holds it in place pretty well.0

I wear one every time I work out and see a lot of other women wearing them too. Not sure how they could be considered nerdy. For some, they are just necessary. I wouldn't splurge for the brand name either. Just get something that will stay in your hair.0

At home, I wear a rolled bandana when I'm on the TM. Even with that, I get sweat everywhere. I can't imagine trying to run on a TM without something to reduce the spray.0
