    Hi Penny

Don't think about the whole of your journey - think about achievable daily goals. That might be increasing the steps you take, increasing the amount of water you drink, or reducing your calories for that day.Keep a log of your results to look back on.

Soon, day by day you will start to feel better. The better you feel, the more motivated you will become. If you slip up, it doesn't matter - just do better the next day. Its persistence and not giving up that will get you there.

Even the thousand mile journey has to start with a first step - and here you are, already here on MFP.

If you spent an hour in the gym, then looked in the mirror, you wouldn't see a difference, right? then the next day, if you spent another hour at the gym then looked in the mirror - still there would be no difference - but imagine going to the gym for an hour each day for 40 days - do you think you would see the difference then? Of course!

Don't worry about how far you've got to go. The days will pass whether you decide to take action or not - it's up to you - wouldn't you rather be looking back in a few weeks time, grateful that you started in February?

Think about your goals, make them a priority in your life - you are in control of you - no-one can do it for you - you can create your own destiny.

You can do it!!! Good luck.

If you don't believe you can lose weight, you will give up the moment it gets a little bit difficult.

I had been obese all my life, and had dieted unsuccessfully more times than I could count. I have now lost 17 stone and walk up hills for fun.

You can do it. If you're willing to do what it takes. Which is just to weigh your food, count your calories, and stay under your calorie goal. If you can do it for one day, you can do it for the next. And the next. And the next. And then one of those next days, you're there!
