Stomach cancer survivor

Hello, years ago I used MFP to lose weight. Now, I've had my stomach removed 8/8/18 and I need to avoid losing weight too quickly. I have Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer HDGC due to a mutation in my CDH1 gene. Mom, Grandmom, and Great Grandmom all died from this cancer, but neither I nor my other family members will. This is a very rare genetic cancer so I don't expect to find many in the same boat here. My challenge will be to avoid losing weight too quickly. I am about 100 pounds overweight now, but expect my weight to stabilize within a year or two.
I have to eat 6-7 times per day, no drinking with my meals only in between. Phase 1 eating is soft proteins, no skins, seeds, nuts, or raw veggies until Phase 2 (October). I'll be using MFP to track my protein and calories. No exercise yet until I recover from the surgery.
Two challenges I see for myself right now are being disciplined about preparing and eating my food/drink, and taking it easy while I recover from surgery. I'm pretty much a type A.

I'm sorry for your health issues. I don't have gasric cancer (thankfully) but I do have a different condition that calls for a similar diet called gastroparesis. I'm severely underweight as eating is very difficult. I agree that you have to be careful not to lose too fast/too much.0

Update: January 2019 my weight has plateaued at 215 this entire month, total of 50 pounds lost so far. I'm eating anything, as tolerated. I've even been able to drink alcohol with my food. Today I put in my calories and see that I'm getting about 1500/day so my weight loss should slow down. One of my children will have to have his stomach out like I did, as he has the same pathogenic gene mutation that I do. Neither of us is very happy with that. Current challenges include an umbilical hernia that prevents me from being too active and from lifting and the fact that I never really feel hungry. Eating feels like a job now.0
