Hi folks! So today I am 142.4 kilos. I started 3 weeks ago weighing in at 145 kilos. Biggest Iv ever been yadda yadda yadda, ANYWAY .. I'm on a mission , seeing a dietician and joined a community health programme, just getting back to the basics starting with eating 3 meals a day. Its taken a long time to get this size, so no rush, one day at a time, would love to hear from any folks in similar position
:)

Hi. I'm a 64 year old man who started this journey Last April. Using nothing but My Fitness Pal to keep an eye on my calories, I have consistently lost just 1kg per week. From 143.5 kg, I now weigh 106.1kg. It's a great tool.

You can do it! I've lost almost 18kg using MFP. It really does work. Feel free to add me as a friend :)

Hi, am in a similar situation, 40yrs old, got to 119.5kgs (biggest for me), new year's resolution to get back to a healthy weight, have started a diet and exercise plan, am at 116kgs today (yesterday weighed in at 115.6kg, but bounced up a bit overnight - hope it goes down again tomorrow!). Calorie counting, trying to get at least 30 mins light exercise a day (walking or yoga so far), have kept to the diet so far, exercise varies a bit from day to day - some days I skip and other days I go for an hour walk, so by the end of the week it has averaged out okay.

Hardest thing I am finding is being around my daughter and her dad, who are not following a diet. All the habits that tempt - like today making my daughter a chicken and mayonnaise sandwich, the 'muscle memory' if you will felt like popping a bit of roast chicken in my mouth, but then I had the override thought come in reminding me that I am on a diet and picking at food like that will add uncounted calories and it's a bad habit. (Reminded me that the minute my daughter started on solids my mouth became part of clean up crew, finishing off her half-eaten sandwiches etc as well as my own intended meal. Need to break the habit!). They cooked homemade pizza the other night, which smelt amazing, and I just had to block it out.

slow and steady. work on healthy eating and adding more exercise every other week. Slow weight loss is a good thing because it is more sustainable.

Just always remember that this is a journey, not a destination. Changing your eating and exercise habits are the key to sustained weight loss, not fad diets, gimmicks and just plain old caloric deficit.

Also keep in mind that you can always include a cheat day (or treat day) to eat foods that are "bad" once in a while. I find it necessary because it let's you know that you are generally always eating well and exercising. Think of it like a vacation. We don't do it all the time but when we do it's for a short period of enjoyment outside the norm.

Ohh my goodness wow .. good on you! do you weigh yourself daily? the past 3 weeks I worked on just having 3 meals a day more so physically having breakfast at a resonable time, I never really ate breakfast but then binged, silly stupid cycle, this 3 weeks round Im working on portion sizes. I have to retrain my brain for everything. I wasn't a fat kid, athletic af we ate well no snacks no junk food available like these days no conveniences you wanted to go anywhere you walked or biked or ran lol didn't even own a car until my 20s and then everything from early 20s seems a blur, like being in a 20 year crazy dream lol ohh I hear you about your family! soooo do, I have 2 kids at home 12 & 8, single mum, to them nothing really seems out of the ordinary as I am making slow changes and they are too caught up in sports or friends or school work to worry about an old person like me lol we eat the same food .. I just tweak mine a little me portion sizes etc or extra salad etc trial and error I say! awesome keep up the great work!

your soo right and yes this isn't my first time Iv tried to loose weight, Iv tried so many quick fixes but this time I am taking a holistic approach and getting back to basics, treat days are a definite I know I won't be successful if I deprive myself my mind will turn it into 'you will never have this again or your a major f***kup' I like that thinking like its a vacation, great idea thankyou :-)

Oh God yes, already my knees are not hurting so much and I'm finding it easier to get up from sitting. Although today I'm fresh off nights and have made all the wrong food choices and eaten everything.

Congratulations on your loss so far, we can do this!
