So I tried out this Master Cleanse, done with day 1, and I'm having second thoughts about it...is it really healthy? I don't know if this is my crazy mind taking over or if I should really stop and go back to eating solid foods? Help?!!

    why are you doing it?

I did. cleanses are completely unnecessary. your body does that on its own

I did it for one day, but just couldn't handle it and broke down. I couldn't drink one more glass! lol Now...if you are looking to be healthier and clean yourself out, try juicing! There are so many different tastes you can make and the fruits and veggies have so many nutrients

it's supposed to cleanse your body and get rid of toxins but, i feel like eating clean would just do the same thing?

You are exactly right! You can start eating clean today. No need to do any cleanse or fast or whatever weird thing first :)

I just finished a 3-Day Shakeology cleanse today! The reason I did it was to jump start my next session of workouts. It is not something you do often, nor for very long and it is not for everyone. You look great in your picture, so I would also like to know your reasons for doing it.

I got to day 7 twice. I felt great doing it and I didn't mind the mexican lemonade all that much. Maybe I was just overfed at the time. I did feel "cleaner" afterwards both times. There are so many different thoughts on wether or not it's healthy, so I just ignore all the hype. It worked for me for the purpose at the time. And it sure taught me that my mind and my will are stronger than my tummy!

do you apply the shakeology with a washcloth? or just spread it on with your hands?

I've done three Master Cleanse adventures (10 days first time, #2-3 11 days). First off, if you aren't doing the Salt Water Flush, it's not the Master Cleanse, it is the Lemon Diet, or Lemonade Diet, or whatever. You can call it a cleanse if you want, but the "cleansing" of the Master Cleanse comes from the Salt Water Flush. It is amazing how many people don't get this. The SWF is nasty, but that is what makes this a cleanse. To be sure - this is a shi**y diet (explosive pun intended), not for losing weight. Too little calories and zero protein isn't a good plan for weight loss.

I don't think I'll do another one. It's really hard to go that long without protein. Also kinda difficult to get up 90 minutes early every morning and tell the kids to keep the bathroom clear - Daddy will run you over when IT'S TIME. I can get obsessive and ritualistic about anything, which was probably why I was able to go for 10+ days. Believe me, things get weird after about day 8. Days 5-7 are the hardest.

Plenty of science out there that says Master Cleanse is bunk/useless. I don't think it was a complete waste for me, especially the first one I did. I was eating meat back then and I had noticed what I referred to as Tony Soprano Belly. My gut was big, but where it started to protrude from my chest, it was kinda firm. Not in a healthy, muscular way, either. By day 5, that area at the top of my belly had started to get squishy, and by the end of my first cleanse, my stomach was more normal feeling. Still fat, for sure. But not weirdly firm in places.

But that doesn't mean the Master Cleanse was some kind of miracle cure. Heck, just stopping my meat consumption could have fixed me. My guess is the Cleanse moved things along.

Seriously, I don't see any reason to do the Master Cleanse unless maybe you are about to embark on a completely different eating pattern. Even then, just start eating different. The body will work itself out. For me, I'm glad I did the first one. At the time, I felt like it had a profound effect on me. But that could have been the lack of protein talking. The other two cleanses weren't like the first, and I had stopped eating any meat but fish by that point. (whether the meat eating is even related or not is debatable. I've had stomach problems and suspect a difficulty digesting meat). My experience was that my first cleanse *seemed* to help me. If nothing else, it will give you a different perspective on food and hunger.

The body really does do on its own what a cleanse is supposed to do. But hey, knock yourself out.

Oh, and be sure to bring an extra pair of underwear to work or school. Just in case.
