I have noticed the past several weeks that the more water I drink, the darker my urine gets. It's weird. If I drink only 3 or 4 glasses, it's pretty pale. If I drink 9 or 10 or 12 or more, it gets a very bright shade of yellow. It's even very noticeable on the paper when I wipe. It's not bloody or orange, but like the color of a dark lemon. I don't put any additives in my water and I don't think I am eating anything with heavy dyes that would cause the coloration. Any thoughts?

    Are you taking vitamins?
  • It should actually be the oppposite, more pale the more you drink.

Has it been like this all your life, or just recently?
Are you taking any vitamins? They could discolour your urine.

You might consider seeing the dr....

Yeah...this sounds like the work of vitamins/supplements.

    Are you taking vitamins?

Yes. I am taking 1,000mg of fish oil 2x a day, 1,000mg of cinnamon 2x a day, and a multivitamin. I have been taking these since the beginning of June and this has only been happening since the beginning of August or shortly there after.
  • Never hurts to call up your doctor and ask.

It's got to be the vitamins.

When I take vitamin B, my pee looks like a highlighter was dumped out into the potty. It's a neon yellow/greenish color.

Vitamins easily change the color. If you stop taking them, your urine should return to normal. However, it's probably not harmful, so I wouldn't worry unless you have other symptoms with it.
