Shouldnt I be...Sore?

The past few times I worked out hard (as in strength training in addition to cardio) I was immediately sore and sore for a few days after. Tonight...nothing. I left the gym feeling as if I had done nothing, when tonight I did more than I ever did! Is it going to hit me hard tomorrow, or is it just me getting used to it? Its not that I wasnt using enough weight, because it was hard while doing...

Your body adapts and the soreness goes away.

could be any number of things, such as you need to increase weight, or do more reps/sets. what i recommend is that you do a different work out. your muscles can get used to a work out, and that can stunt any growth.
  • Either you need to change your routine or you may not feel sore for a day or two. I will feel great for the first two days after a work out and the third day I feel like I can't walk. Sometimes our bodies need a change and sometimes they decide to change on us.

if you hurt EVERY time, you're doing something wrong. As long as you feel good or tired when you leave the workout, that's great. Next time you change up your routine, you'll fell the sore again.

Soreness always seems the worst after your first couple workouts.

I agree that if you want to see more results, you can always up the weights or try different movements. For example, if lunges don't do it for you anymore, you can always try side lunges. Or if a chin-up with underhand grip doesn't do it for you anymore, try it with an overhand grip, or spread your hands apart farther, or do one hand over and the other under. You get the idea. Just switch it up and don't hurt yourself. :)

was it big? If it was big weight then you'd probably be sore. Sometimes it takes 2 days to feel the total soreness.

I'll be honest I NEVER get sore from the gym. And I work my *kitten* off. I run on the elliptical for ten minutes (I'm fat, that's as long as I can go!) I do the maximum amount of weights I can, often getting past the point of exhaustion.

    Never sore.

It's pretty common to not be sore immediately after, especially if you have been doing the same workout. You will probably have DOMS, Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. It will probably hit you in the next couple days like a few have already said.

soreness is not an indicator to a good workout..any body building will tell you this.

i for one, only do weights. some days i'm sore, some days i'm not. but mostly i am very sore when i change up my routine or add a different exercise in.
