Mayo Alternative?

I absolutely love mayo in my sandwiches, etc. but I know how bad it can be. I was looking up mayo alternatives for sandwiches and came across yogurt, pesto, cottage cheese, and mustard. The yogurt and cottage cheese sound really strange to use and I despise mustard. Has anyone tried pesto or any other alternative? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance!

What about avacado? I know it's got fat, but it's the good kind. I see them use this all the time on the food network instead of mayo.

Are we talking mayo or miracle whip? I always just assume miracle whip when someone is talking about mayo lol. I use fat free miracle whip, a ton less calories and it tastes almost exactly the same.

Mayo lover here too!! I really like the Kraft olive oil mayo. I can't give it up all together. Also, as mentioned, I use hummus and avacado (healthy fat) as alternatives too.

I love hummus on sandwiches. or fat free mayo isn't so bad either...

& mustards are way fewer calories, and there are tons of different varieties if you don't care for the plain old yellow kind. personally I love Koop's brand Arizona Heat mustard, I put it on everything!

I LOVE mayo and I still use it but I use a lot less of it and I use low fat. If I am having a wrap or toasted sandwich I use Light Laughing Cow cheese wedges in place of the mayo or I use Spicy Mustard.

I was just about to clarify because I forgot about the miracle whip. When it comes to mayo I am extremely picky and sorry to say do not like miracle whip at all :noway: lol. I'm talking the ol kraft mayo

Avacado is a DEFINITE alternative to mayo. I love it and I don't miss mayo. Try spicey mustard or honey mustard - just be leary of the cals from hone mustard.

Hummus and avocado are great alternatives. I hate yellow mustard, but have recently realized that I love honey mustard on my sandwiches.

I haven't given up mayo. I just make it a light mayonnaise, don't use a lot or at least the serving size, and account for it.

I'm totally with everyonr on the avacodo! Mash it up and spice it up and use it as a spread. I like it spicy and add a cajun spice mix.

I use guacamole or just sliced avocados. You can search recipes online for guacamole or buy it in the stores or Epicure has a seasoning so that you make it yourself (I prefer Epicure's it has a bit more flavour than some store bought ones that I've tried). Here's their website: http://www.epicureselections.com/en/

I agree on the avocado! That's what I try and use most of the time. Still high in cals but very heart healthy and it only takes a small slice to smear on the bread - yum!
