My family, my story very long, tmi, pass or read

The reason my 1st journey started..

I have been trying to have a baby since September of 2005. In this time I have had a long and eventful journey and still have yet to succeed.

It started in September of 2005; I was on Clomid for 9 months. June 06 I got insurance through my job. I then decided to transfer to a local OB-GYN. By 6/22/06 he had an HSG done on me to see if my tubes were clogged, and I was definitely diagnosed w/ PCOS. He put me on a higher dose of Clomid & other meds. He said that he met his max of what he could do for me and referred me to see a Reproductive Endrocrinologist (a specialist for infertility) in Westchester, NY. This broke my heart to think my body was broken.
Sept 06 I met my RE for the first time. He seemed great.
Oct 06- Dec 06- he did tests upon test, while also putting me on even HIGHER doses of Clomid. MY body did not respond.
Jan 07 – I had a break down that I wasn’t driving 2 hours for Clomid. That cycle I started my Injectable Medicine. I started Follistim. I had to go through a class and everything. My body did not respond. My RE kept his faith. He told me not to worry.
Feb 07- March 07- I did a second round of shots. My body actually responded to it well. We did my first IUI (intra-uterineinsemination)that month. I succeeded and got pregnant.
7 weeks 5 days later, I went in for my weekly check up & I had miscarried! My world had come to an end. Not only did I have PCOS which made it hard to conceive to begin with-but they found out I had Lupus Anticoagulant (a blood clotting disorder).
I had to take a break, May 07- Aug 07 due to my career- however I stayed on oral drugs to keep my body “normal” and tried to put my mind at ease and to relax.
Sept 07 I started a new cycle, with Injectable medicines again. By Oct 07 I was ready for another IUI.
Oct 07- Negative IUI
Nov 07- started another round w/ Injectables. I had another IUI.
11/26/07- Another negative IUI.
We decided for Dec 07 we would just relax!!! Since the holidays were here.
I decided to get a second opinion. I found a Dr who is a part of a NJ Reproductive Institute, but comes 45 minutes from my house 1x a week.
On January 14, 2008 I met my new dr. At this point he didn’t want to touch me with out IVF (in vitro fertilization), which wasn’t an option due to my insurance didn’t cover it and it’s an expensive procedure that’s not guaranteed.
I decided to get a third opinion. I found another doctor who is a RE on top of an OBGYN that took my case with open arms.
I met him Jan 28, 2008. At this time he went over every piece of my record. He told me that IVF would be the best option for me, knowing that it wasn’t possible; he took the next steps.
February 15, 2008 I went in for a laparoscopic surgery & a hysteroscopy. He found Endometrial Polyps that needed to be removed. He did a thorough cleaning & cleaned my tubes out and got me ready for the next round of IUI.

March 2008- I started my first cycle with my new doctor. Everything was going great. My follicles were in there 20’s we for sure thought this round was going to work.
April 23, 2008- I received the phone call that this cycle was a bust as well. My heart sank to my throat; it just doesn’t seem meant to be. Not only did I get yet another negative pregnancy test, but it was on the same date I miscarried the year before.

We took yet another break to stabilize my body and I started looking into different adoption agencies to have that option as well.

August 2008- I started by coming in for a routine check up to make sure I was okay to start a cycle.

I started an oral drug that starts the process, however this time it took a month and a half for my body to respond.

Late October 2008, I got all my medicines together and November I started my injectable drugs.

This round I used a different medicine- Gonal-F which they say is like taking Tylenol & Motrin; however my body responded to it differently. It was very SLOW.

The whole month of November I took my shots, by December 12th I had another IUI.

I was told to wait the 2 week wait, and that I can do a Home Pregnancy test on Christmas for my results.

I was very hopeful and had a lot of faith, however it was negative.

In the next two weeks I will be starting again. I don’t plan to give up. I have a dream. It’s 2009 and we’re looking for our miracle this year.
since Dec 2008 and my negative Pregnancy test, I laid low. I finally decided to apply in June for the IVF Grant for NY state, knowing deep inside this is my only option. I was approved. It was a great feeling to know that I was able to possibly achieve my dreams. (5k for IVF)
IN the end of August we started treatments- for the past few months we’ve done everything on target- driving to Manhattan everyday (2 hour drive) & taking injections & everything that goes with it. Unfortunately last Monday (11/30/09) The Doctor canceled my cycle because my body wasn’t responding properly. It’s heart wrenching. However, I will continue to move forward. In 2 weeks I will be starting again-hoping one day I will have my own Miracle.
I have just finished an IVF cycle. Tuesday March 9 2010 I had 14 eggs retrieved. 8 Embryos came out of that. Friday 3/12/10 they transferred 2 perfect embryos into my uterus.
( 3/24/10) I received my results yesterday and my IVF failed. I go in on Wednesday to discuss what went wrong.

2011-Since my IVF- we attempted to start a fresh IUI Cycle, however we were told that my Blood Clotting disorder was going to prevent me from getting pregnant 😦

(Update 2/2014) Its been quite some time since I’ve done any updates because we have taken ourselves out of fertility treatment central. It was taking a huge toll on our relationship/along with my health. I have lost a lot of weight since my treatments-was in hope that i’d conceive on my own. HOWEVER, it never happened.

May 2012 we were certified Foster Care Parents. We figured there are kids out there that need our help as well. We have had a number of feet in and out of our house-but we are looking for our Foster to Adopt.

THEN, I also got that job that I was looking into (up top that has insurance that covers IVF) I have been there almost 2 years. Since then, we have had the opportunity to do a Frozen Embryo Cycle- we are taking it into consideration and thinking strongly about doing it. My 1116thoughts-whats the worse thing?? it not work? I’ve been down that road since 2005.

UPDATE: 12/23/2015

Today we adopted Jaydon and Jordon. It was the best Christmas gift I could ever receive. happy.jpg

Its been almost 4 years since we’ve adopted the boys. We gave up on treatments- we have our handsful with our forever children who need us more. We all were meant to be.

We no longer are doing foster care or etc.

Jordon is now 6 and Jaydon is 8. They are growing into smart young cookies. I couldnt be happier!
