Hi there. New, just roaming around looking up calories and food items. Anybody else notice that there are some discrepancies with food items? For example, we have a Montana Mike’s steakhouse where I am. This app says a dinner roll is 300 cal...but then you scroll a ways down and the same item says bread/roll is around 170 (I think). Why the difference? Also noticed that on a salad from McAllister deli. ?

The MFP food database is user-sourced - meaning anyone with an account can add (often erroneous) entries. Sometimes they were correct but nutrition information has since been updated. It takes some practice to get the knack for sorting through the junk entries.

Here's a good place to get started:

ETA, when eating at a restaurant, I always compare nutrition information provided by the chain (when available) to the MFP entries and choose the best match.

Thank you! I did not know this was user sourced like that. Very confusing! Appreciate your reply.
