I take Xanax for anxiety, I’m wondering if that affects my heart rate while I’m doing cardio. I know it makes my blood pressure go down if I’m feeling panicked. Is the same true for work outs?
Thanks

That’s an excellent question for your doctor.2

According to my doctor xanax and some blood pressure medications lower heart rate. He thinks that is why I cannot hit my cardio rate set by my age and weight. There are other drugs that can do the same, ask your doctor if you are also taking other drugs that might cause this. I just try to get my heart rate as high as I can and am able to talk and run/step/bike.1

Your doctor or an exercise physiologist is who you should be getting this advice from.1
