Half way through my journey and have just discovered MFP :)

Hi there, my name is Anne and I am from Bedfordshire in England. Two years ago I weighed in at my heaviest at 244 pounds (17st 6lbs) after putting on a lot of weight at university.
My 'last straw' moment came when I was due to go to a friend's wedding. I had a 'safe' dress in my wardrobe that I would always turn to if I was feeling a bit heavier as I knew it would always fit me. A few days before the wedding I went to try the dress on and could not zip it up Needless to say I shed a few tears and then made the decision that it was the last time I would be that heavy.
Since that day i have lost 53 lbs However for the last year or so I have found myself losing and putting on the same 7lbs and I feel that my motivation has slipped slightly. I still exercise regularly and really enjoy it but it is the food that I sometimes find more difficult as I am a complete emotional eater. I am hoping that by using MFP and finding some supportive people it will re-energise my weight loss journey. I would like to lose another 31lbs and get down to 160lbs (11st 6lbs). I am 5ft 8in by the way.
So anyway, enough of my yabbering. Nice to meet you all and I hope to speak to you all soon

Hello
I'm from England too and have a similar story to you in that my weight gain was mostly at university as well (grrr at cheap delicious pizza and cheap alcohol!!)
I discovered MFP late on, but i've found it's really helped me to start to shift though the tough last 12 pounds after being on a plateau for so long.
Congratulations on your weight loss so far - that's an amazing result. If you can do that, you can do some more! I used to eat lots of cake and sweets when I felt blue but I've tried to train myself into focussing on something like reading or sewing when I'm sad now and I try to reward myself with things other than food too (though I have a once a month 'off the record' meal!!) I guess it's a matter of keeping your mind off things but I know it's easier said than done.
Good luck with the rest of your weight loss plans!
If you'd like to be MFP friends - please add me

Hi from one emotional eater to another! Don't worry, you can get past that tricky 7lbs! What I want you to do is when you're about to reach for the food, stop, take five deep breaths and ask yourself do I need to eat right now? And if the answer is yes, ask yourself if there's something else you can eat and not that pack of cookies or whatever it is that's drawing you to it seductively. And feel free to add me.0
