Anybody has any suggestions or tips for trying to maintain an adequate diet while working night shift? I am an RN who works 3-4 nights a week.

I'm a police officer currently on night shift (we rotate, 12-hour shifts). I have a little meal prep cooler that holds 3 meal containers as well as snacks etc. I meal prep once/week and then grab-and-go each day before my shift. The meal prep bag rides shotgun in my patrol vehicle with a big jug of water.1

I work nights sometimes. I bring food from home. Dont try to go all shift without eating because you will inevitably binge after.1

The trick for me to meal prep is to cook things that don’t go bad or things I can heat up fast. Veggies and chicken might be boring but they’re the easiest to freeze and reheat! My favorite are the frozen veggies like broccoli and cauliflower. I need something filling with it though so usually whole grain pasta. Throw it in the fridge or freezer for the week and it’s easy to grab. Another favorite: putting oatmeal and dried fruit or nuts or what ever you want into a disposable coffee cup and then in the morning or before your shift you can grab the cup of oatmeal and add hot water when ever need. You can find hot water almost anywhere so it’s no hassle. Plus it fits in your cup holder. Also easy the hold with 1 hand if you’re busy at work. You can walk and eat at the same time. Serious life hack for me!1
