Essential Oils

I know that not everyone "believes in" essential oils but for those of you that DO (not really interested in people trying to debunk them in this post) do you find any specific oils helpful in your weight loss journey? If so, what brand?

I'm an oil user, but I've never heard of anything that can help with weight loss. Honestly, it's best just to learn how to do it and make it sustainable by eating at your calorie goal. I've tried looking them up before, but the results are kind of all over the place. Some can help supress appetite it looks like, but learning what nutrition works best for you (such as adequate protien & fiber) is going to go further in keeping the weight off in the long term.

Thank you! I'm definitely sticking to the basics but to clarify, I'm even interested in things like - is there a blend that helps you wake up for your workouts? Something that keeps you motivated? etc

Now oils has a blend that is something like that. Something like mental focus...

Found a link to a couple

These might help pep you up a bit! I know they sell these at Natural Grocers if you have on in your area.

I can understand it's hard to want to get up and work out, but once you get going, the workout itself is energizing! The hard part is just getting started. But maybe they'll help get you going, and get you in the habit. Best of luck! :)

I use essential oils but don't ingest them and not for weight loss.

I use lavender drops in my homemade air freshener and I put peppermint drops in my body oil and slather that on and take a short nap in the sauna after a workout. The peppermint scent gives me my energy back so maybe smelling it pre-workout may give you an energy boost.

I have read grapefruit but have no experience with it. For what it's worth be sure the oils you buy are safe to injest. Not all of them are.

Not sure if it would have the same effect for you, but patchouli has me sprinting out of whatever place that has even a hint of it, so that's calories burned. Why? Because it gives me an instant headache, and I guess I don't really want to eat when my head is about to explode so that's fewer calories eaten. That's about the only way I know of that essential oils could help with weight loss.

I find peppermint and the citrus scents help me "wake up" - love to put those in my diffuser on Saturday morning to get myself up and moving. I don't ingest them so can't speak to that aspect of using them.

This^^^. They need to be 100% pure essential oils. NOT fragarance oils. That's something to watch out for. A lot will sell themselves as essential oils but are really diluted with something else, or are actually fragarance oils. In those cases, I wouldn't even use them internally or topically.

I use them for things like helping me sleep, or with massage, or even stomach problems, and things like that. I'm still not convinced any used for weight loss would be anything more then temporary. The ones I linked up above might help with the mental aspect of getting yourself to work out, but not much can be done for additional weight loss. I've looked at the supplements by YL aimed at weight loss before. While thier oils are high quality, they are an MLM company, and thus are more invested in your money then health. So I didn't really mention them. Because while they may possibly help temporarily with things like motivation, or even appetite suppressant, can you imagine using them the rest of your life?
