Try adding fruit to your diet and drink even more water. I had a similar problem when I first started working out, but just upped the fruit and water, and that helped.

    Doctor as soon as possible.
  • There are over the counter medications that you can try that are very safe, but I agree that a doctor would be the best person to give you the "go ahead" to try them. Or have you tried anything like Activia that is supposed to help you be more regular?

i have the same problem. so i take 2 laxatives a day to keep my bm's moving like a normal person. my dr advised me to do that.

If you up your fiber intake quickly it can make you really bloated and gasy!

What was your normal going rate? I don't go every day, that's my normal. Depends what I eat of course. Drink lots of water and try eating pears. Hot drinks can also get things going, so if you're a coffee or tea drinker, have a few cups of that, too.

Might have a bowel obstruction. i had one once and would not go at all and then all of a sudden have diarrhea and then nothing. I would check with your doctor.

having too much fiber and not drinking plenty of water can do that to you as well.

You can be getting too much fiber...it affects people different ways. Try some Miralax...it should help you!

Have you been eating fruits and veggies? If you have, call your doctor. if not, go grab some, pronto.
  • First of all, don't ever take a laxative again. Unless you are directed to do so by your doctor, laxatives do not help. They don't help you lose weight, it puts extra strain on your colon, and is unsafe to repeat use.

Try adding a fiber supplement, like Benefiber or metamucil. You add them to something you drink, or something soft you eat. However, check the calories of the fiber supplements because some contain sugar. I use Benefiber, the sugar free kind. It still has a few calories, but much less than the regularly advertised one.

Too much fiber? But I'd call your doctor first just to be sure.

Laxatives just delay you getting to the heart of the problem.

Agree with most of the positive advice above, to which I can add, how many eggs do you get through in a week? To many can bung you up!

Are you drinking enough water? That could be it.

That happened to me last year, I ate a whole box of raisen bran and let's just say... I wasn't feeling too well.

You might want to first check with your doctor to ensure there is nothing wrong.

If you took a laxative and had the runs, sometimes it takes a few days for your body to get regular again. Think about when you are sick and have diarrhea... same thing happens. Laxatives are not usually a good solution.

In the future, you may want to take a stool softener, such as Miralax, (vs. laxative) to help.

Definitely get to your doctor... after your doctor (or homeopath - my preference) has thoroughly checked you out, mention Magnesium Citrate capsules. I take those on a regular basis. All natural and they keep my bowels from becoming impacted. For years my bowels were so impacted that even gas couldn't make it all the way through my system without bunching up and causing such horrific pain that my husband felt he needed to rush me to the hospital when I bowled over and fell to the floor clutching my stomach.

I don't go through that kind of pain anymore. I keep magnesium citrate capsules in my cabinet at all times. I take 3 in the morning and 3 and night before bed. If I forget to take them... I know it!

    SEE YOUR DOCTOR FIRST!

My then-6-year-old daughter once ate a Fiber One bar, thinking it was just any snack bar... Oh my lord. There were definite issues a couple hours later.

Its possible to not go #2 for a few days if there is some sort of stress or change of habits.
I have also noticed that meds similar to hose you mentioned throw me off for a few days.

You should at least call your DR(an actual Doctor with an MD, no alternative medicine allowed when it comes to your moving parts).

    Good Luck
  • I've read in the past that there is types of fiber, soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber absorbs water making it easier for you to go. Insoluble fiber just passes through and doesn't absorb water which makes you constipated. Eat plenty of fruit.
