Hi I switched back to iOS & it’s fixed most of my phone issues I had with my other phone...
But still having strange step count problems with MyFitnessPal. I have been doing around 11k steps average over past few days & MFP only seems to take around 8 or 9k before it stops working . It will start counting the next day tho .
Any ideas . Tried force closing apps & reinstalling etc

Has the time been set the same for your phone and MFP? This can do some crazy step count things if times are different.

What do you mean about MFP counting steps? Never heard of that.

I set MFP to count steps using iPhone . They sync pretty much until around 8 or 9k steps then it just seems to stop

Anyone know why it does this ? Today apple health says 13k steps but MFP 11k

Do you mean MapMyFitness or that your steps from IOS are not fully syncing? Because MFP itself doesn't count steps, your Apple Health Kit just sends the data to your MFP account. There is no current known issue showing in the Help section for Apple Steps.

I would assume it has something to do with the timing of the sync. Most of these devices don't sync in real time.

Yeah they are not fully syncing . Today for example I have done 19k steps but MFP is showing 15k & it won’t catch up (past few days hasn’t caught up )

Maybe but it doesn’t catch up.. earlier today my apple health & MFP were reading the same but around 9k the MFP started showing less now I have done 19k but MFP 15k . I know it doesn’t really matter much calories wise but it’s just annoying that it doesn’t show all my steps for the day in the app

It could be that MFP is only recording steps above and beyond what your daily activity level is set at.

Ah that would explain it if it works like that :)

It doesn't work like that, I am set as lightly active which only accounts for around 5000 steps from my Garmin, but MFP syncs all my steps.

Best advice I can give you is to go to the Help site and log a query. They'll be able to tell you if it's a known issue or what you can do to fix it.

I noticed some confusion between comments reading all at once.

Syncing means iPhone app is tracking the steps and sending the info to MFP along with some incorrect data like calorie burn - account to account.

MFP setting for Step Source set to iPhone but no accounts linked means not syncing, literally just using iPhone for step count.

But reference is made to iPhone with it's own logging of step count, not matching MFP. So that's back to a sync between accounts, not Step Source.

    So which is it?

If accounts linked and actually syncing, you may have the incorrect calorie Adjustment in your Exercise Diary - click on that to get more details and see the time of the last sync.

If it stopped syncing awhile back, there's the issue. It only sends new data when it goes up by 100 calories. Of course, that's the frequency of all the other trackers - never confirmed if Apple held to that requirement and MFP allowed them.

Thanks for this info much appreciated
