I've been healthily losing about 1-2 pounds per week since early December. I'm down 20 pounds. Yay! I'm happy with all that, and my intention is to keep focusing on healthy, sustainable weight loss via moving more and eating reasonably.
However ... Beginning Jan. 1, some employees at my work kicked off a Biggest Loser competition as a way to motivate folks who adopted weight loss resolutions. I've lost almost 10 pounds since the first weigh-in, and the winner will be determined by percentage lost. Next Monday is the final weigh-in. Looking around, I think I'm a contender. We all put in $25 and winner takes all, which is about $500. I've busted my butt and want to win. Does anyone have any suggestions for this last week prior to weigh-in to (still in a healthy way) put up the best number in seven days from now? I always weigh about a pound lighter after I exercise, so I'm gonna exercise right before the weigh-in and wear the lightest clothes in my wardrobe. :P I don't intend to play dirty by any means, but we've got some big men in the competition, and it's annoyingly easy for them to drop weight. I, meanwhile, have had to cut to 1200 net calories a day to see any difference on the scale. I just want to put my best foot forward. Any thoughts?

Keto/low carb. Drop the glycogen and the related water weight. Just know that it will be temporary and will come back once you go back to a normal diet.
Low sodium and don't change your workout routine (or even cut back some). Goal will be to drop water out of your muscle.

as above - go to below 50g carbs and you will lose a *kitten* tonne of water weight for that final push.
however, in terms of low sodium not really as you actually need more sodium when such low carbs. I wouldn't go stuffing my face with say ham or something like that, but salt your normal food with normal salt.
then again - for one week you will hardly face any damage from going low carb low salt. you'll just feel like crap.
I wouldn't recommend it for an extended period of time though.4 -
If you're able to safely then fast (maybe 24-36 hours) leading up to the weigh in and try to <ahem> eliminate as much waste from your body beforehand.
I wouldn't recommend doing a full on weight cut but a hot shower and bundling up during your workout might help you sweat out a pound or two.1 -
Thanks! I'm going to try low carb this week -- but only this week, because it sounds miserable *to me* (not judging others). It'll be a bit harder for me because I don't eat meat. I'm pescatarian, so I guess I'm going to try to largely stick with yogurt, protein drinks and fish this week. We'll see how it goes! Thanks again.1
