I'm 57. Need to loose about 70 pounds but more important than the number on the scale is muscle tone and overall health.

I am a firm believer in health is wealth especially the older I get. Friends and family are getting angiograms and reporting cancer journeys. I know that no one is immune but I'd like to do all I can to build that hedge of protection. I'm looking for someone who would like to check in daily or at least every other day to talk about their gym experience, food finds and what they are doing "at our age"

Here's what I am currently doing:

Monday - HIIT class (it's a killer) Hurts so good

Tuesday - Spin class - haven't started yet because it's at 5 a.m./can't do the evening class cuz I have choir practice

Wednesday - Zumba - love, love, love Tonight is a Mardi Gras theme might when a free month at the gym as door prize!

Thursday - Spin class again/there is a Yoga class in the evening - I usually use this as my rest day though and plan my menu

Friday - on my own - Full body workout that the trainer gave me when I joined

Saturday - on my own - Upper body/Farmer's market and grocery shopping

Sunday - on my own - Lower body/Church and family time

As the weather gets pretty again and once the pollen counts come down (I have major allergies)then I will be adding 45 minute walk and on the weekends long bike rides.

For the food part of the equation I am moving toward a whole food plant based diet but for now life is so hectic since I work full time and have a commute plus taking care of hubby and
adult daughter who is looking for her first professional job and will be moving out soon and helping my son and his fiancé' plan their wedding (they are several hours away). Church activities and checking on my Daddy and my hubby's Dad lives with us 3 months each year.

So yeah, my plate is pretty full.

The exercise part I feel I have a handle on but the food has always been a struggle.

Need more hours in the day so I can cook all those beautiful meals I see online. Sometimes I food prep on the weekend but most of the time the weekends are even busier than the week.

Anyway, if anyone would like to join me in the journey that would be awesome. If you're a member at Anytime Fitness that would be even more awesome.

Hi there! Sounds like you have a great plan. As far as food - make it simple. Baked chicken and steamed veggies takes less than 30 minutes and you can cook 2-3 meals at once and eat leftovers. Also, for me, I have some frozen meals on hand at all times for something quick. Do you have a crockpot? It's so easy to put something in it in the AM and dinner is all ready at night (roast, shredded chicken for anything, chili, soups, etc.).

I actually made it to Spin this morning. Yay!

Thanks for the tips. We don't eat alot of meat but I am sure there are some vegetarian recipes for crockpot.

I do use my pressure cooker on weekends when we slow down long enough to fix a big meal and then eat on leftovers.

Hopefully the energy will kick in soon from all the exercise and I will have enough left over to get some things done at home too.

    Have an awesome day!

Just a tip. On MFP you can friend people then they can see all your stays updates on your feed and you can chat and network and support there. Sometimes this can work out better than trying to maintain a forum thread.
There also are one or more forum threads for older adults than are quite large and ongoing.
