Look in the "success stories" part of the forum. The "most helpful posts" section there has a list of especially good ones.

Check out the success stories in the forums and you'll see a host of people who have lost weight using the app.

It really is all about taking in less calories than we burn = weight loss - MFP is a great tool where we can keep a tab of our calories in and out.

Another thing to consider is this app is free, Slimming World is not, it's a business looking to make money, it won't make money if people stay slim, with all the syns etc, it's hard to get a feel for how to maintain your weight loss without using their system.

It demonises foods with no real rationale and doesn't really encourage understanding of normal water weight fluctuations (I've lost count of the number of times both here and in real life that people have been told by a Slimming World or Weight Watchers consultant that they are doing things wrong because they didn't lose or gained a pound or two one week, rather than understanding that weight fluctuates up and down constantly due to a number of factors, regardless of whether people are in a calorie deficit or not).

So people ultimately end up going back time after time, rather than learning how to lose weight in a sustainable manner and moderate intake of all foods.

That's exactly what we should think about when trying to lose weight. We didn't have to join a "club" and give them lots of our hard earned money to gain all that weight (with the exception of buying all that food, but that will not change in one way or another). It is all about learning reasonable food portions, looking at the calories you consume, doing a bit of exercise and slowly changing to a healthier life style. MFP offers all that and much more - FREE OF CHARGE! Plus all the members who are supportive and give good advise. Unfortunately we live in a society where just about nothing is for free - if it's for free, it must be rubbish, right? Just recently I came across another gimmick: Join a "weight loss club", pay a horrendous registration fee with a further monthly membership fee on top. If you have lost x y z kg's in three months time, you'll get all your money back AND they give you a double cash - back bonus as well. Brilliant! Maybe 1 in 100 members is lucky. By the way, their "Managing Director" is driving the latest luxury car available.....SUCKERS!
