So I’ve been inactive most of the winter. Just logging back into MFP a few days ago. I knew I had gained some weight but dang! I’ve gained 18 lbs in 6 months. Typically over the winter I will gain around 5-10 lbs and then work it back off before summer. Is this just part of being in my 40’s or should I talk to a doctor???

That's only 3lb per month (average) gain which is less than half a lb a week it's easily done when not tracking I out on a stone between November last year and January this year 😏 just get back on it

Nothing to do with age and no need to see a doctor...it just means you gained more weight than you usually do over the winter. It equates to about 3 Lbs per month which is pretty easy to do and doesn't require massively over eating...like only 250-300 calories per day on average over maintenance...again, pretty easy to do, especially if you're not being active.

It's just math. You either ate a bit more than your usual winter or you moved a bit less than your usual winter. If you weren't tracking, there's really no way to know. But as the others said, 250 extra cals per day is a lot easier than you'd think!

Exactly, more calories plus less burning will lead to it. I know its a number that probably pops out but you can certainly fix it. We are here to help!
