Insanity results so far...feeling deflated.

Hi everyone
I'm new here and hoping I'm posting this in the right section.
I've just finished the first month of Insanity and currently on the recovery week. I'm posting my results because I just can't see a difference at all. I'm very demotivated. I've been terrible with my diet and my energy is lacking so bad...I don't think I'm going to make it past the recovery stage now. I know this is my fault and have nobody to blame but myself. I have pushed hard through the workouts however, and I take a recovery shake and eat a protein bar each day.
Has anyone felt the same during the recovery week. I don't want to stop now. I need to get my diet in order but just not motivated to continue. Anyone felt the same?!

I can definitely tell a pretty big difference! Your waist looks smaller and your arms look fitter.
Diet is a really important of the equation though, so you will be hindering your potential results if you don't focus on improving it. I would focus on that and you can see how it affects you.
But congratulations on the results so far. I definitely see progress!9 -
Also keep in mind that workouts are sold by promising the most dramatic results humanly possible. One month is nothing, you can't really expect dramatic changes in your body in such a short period of time. I enjoy BB workout programs, but I hate how misleading the ads are. I'm honestly not a big fan of Insanity for weight loss as it does push you really hard, and that stress on your body, especially if you're not eating enough, can actually make you LESS active the rest of the day and trigger appetite. Just my non-professional two cents!
If you're trying to lose weight, focusing on your diet is key. Staying in a reasonable calorie deficit is what will lead to losing weight. Look to your workout to burn a few extra calories and keep your muscles engaged. I can't get your pictures to load on my phone, but we are always our worst critics. Whether you stick with Insanity or do something else, don't feel bad. Finding a workout you enjoy and that helps you accomplish your goals is a process!10 -
As the others have said, we truly are our own biggest critics! I can totally see a difference in your pics, don't get discouraged! You're doing great!!!4

I agree, you look way different. It's impressive!! Hang in there. Are you able to "disconnect" the thought process, and "just do it?" Long term, you will need to ease into life long good habits of healthy eating, regular exercise, active destressing, and sleep. The exercise class "bursts" are great to break down barriers and kick into the next level. I'm impressed - go girl!!!1

Did you take before and after measurements? Are you sure you measured exactly the same spot and tightness of the tape? If not, start doing this now so you’ll have future comparisons.3

Definitely a difference! Look at the way your bra fits. In the before it slightly digs in, in the after it is salt to your skin.2

Right off the bat, even at a quick glance, I can see a difference - look at your waist! You've done a lot in a month!
But as someone else pointed out, the Beachbody ads show before & afters that are extremely misleading. Those results are NOT typical and they are going to use the people whose nutrition is 100% spot-on, get spray tanned, get perfect lighting, perfect posing, professional photographers (with Photoshop skillz too)! Please don't compare yourself to those! You are doing great!4 -
I see a major difference! Your waist is a smooth line now, the little bulge is gone! And look at your bellybutton! You look great , keep it up!1

I'm going to do you a favor and use both my PS skills and critical graphic designer eye to show you _exactly_ how much of a difference you are between the start and finish of the month. It's very hard to line up the different angles so I had to clip it into two segments but trust me (and all the others above) when I say you HAVE made a difference in your body composition. Take a look at where I circled your waist line (specifically under the band of your bra) and your arms (both in the curve of your shoulder, your triceps, and leading into your armpits). Your belly button is lifted up and is more open because there's less fat around it. There's no shadowing on the topline of your underwear because of this as well. You've lost some weight in your breasts because the crease between the cups is less prominent (so that means the bra fits better overall). The outer bump of your left thigh is diminished (it's too hard to see a different with the other due to your posture and the cropping).
And all of that within a month is pretty major progress!
If you give up on yourself because you can't have in 1 month what athletes train for years to achieve then no one here can help you. That's just the truth of it. This journey you're going on is a marathon...not a sprint. You don't have to go "balls to the wall" if it makes it too hard to stick with it. If you need to slow down then Darlin' just slow down Someday you'll get there...but you'll NEVER get there if you don't keep going forward.
I doubt you'll say it to yourself but on behalf of the MFP community I am PROUD of you! Way to go!

Thank you all SO much for your replies...I am overwhelmed by your kind words. I have decided to keep going with the programme and going to do an overhaul in my kitchen tonight, so I have plenty of fresh food and supplies in.
I have to say, I do feel much fitter today and going to give Month 2 my all. x

Did you take photos of your back? Or from the side? Or measurements - arm, chest, waist, thigh. I see changes. Definitely
My mid section is the last section to change. Also, diet will affect stomach. But you may have lost weight in your back!!
Keep going. I am in awe of you doing Insanity. It’s hard to keep going if you feel as though you aren’t getting results. Give it time. You should feel super proud of yourself. It’s amazing!
Try and clean up one small thing in your diet. Give up your sweet drinks. Late night snack. Cut the milk out of teas and drinks. Try black tea. Or black coffee. Fried foods. You may start to affect the stomach.
I’m the worse with burgers. If I give in, I throw the bun out (or ask for it without a bun - to save food waste)!!
Congrats!

Keep it up! I see an improvement in your photo at a first glance. Congratulations!
I ended up reading posts and replies because I felt the same. My first month in Insanity was good and results were fast like i see a change each day. I'm currently on the half of my 2nd month but i see very little improvement. My husband told me I may be in a plateau phase. Hence, I need to keep going and push more if I can whenever i do the workout. Our bodies tend to adapt easily to a workout routine. I was discouraged at first, so I ended up reading posts here in My Fitness Pal. But thank you for your insights.
Let's keep going. We'll get there. I'll have more patience too.0 -
I can definitely see a difference. You're doing great. Keep at it. I'm looking at doing a beach body workout soon as well so I will definitely like to see your updates. Feel free to add me as a friend

Imagine what would've happen had your nutrition been better. Now use that as motivation for the next month.0

There's a huge difference. Just look at the side roll on the first picture versus the second picture where this is none up by the bra. Even your bellybutton is smaller! Keep it up! You look amazing and have done great things!0

I agree! so happy you stuck with it, it reminds me of how i felt about my before and afters..... and i how i feel again, after taking a year off from injury... then excuses0
-
Hopefully you carried on with insanity because I can definitely see a difference in the two photos0
