Anyone else on the single parent hustle, how do you fit it all the diet and excercise.

Currently struggling or maybe just being lazy 🤷🏻‍♀️

Me too! It’s rough since my kids don’t want to eat any of the food from my diet plus work. It is a struggle!

It’s not always easy! My kids are now 8 and 10 so im through some of the hardest bits but here are a couple of things I do in case it’s of any use!

Food - batch cook and freeze! I make lots of portions of things like bolognese sauce that my kids like and lower cal stuff for me so that I can easily make two separate meals if needed. Or I make us the same basic protein - grilled chicken, salmon, stir-fried prawns etc - and give them the carbs that they love on the side and myself a bigger portion of veggies. Luckily we all like cucumber, carrot and fruit so healthy snacks are always available. If I have time at the weekends I also try to get them involved in making something new and healthier - like making frozen yoghurt with fruit together.

Exercise - I just suck it up and get up very early and do a workout at home while they are asleep! I have a mat, some weights and have devised some circuit type workouts from DVDs and classes I’ve done in the past. And at the weekend I try and get some activity in with them - a jog or nice long walk outside. We’ll make it an outing by jogging out to a cafe where afterwards I have a coffee and they have a snack and do their homework. Sometimes they need a bit of persuading but they are always happy once we get going.

It’s basically a bit of a juggle of trying to have a healthy lifestyle that you can share with them, without it overtaking or becoming a distraction.

    Good luck!

I am right there with you and honestly its not ideal, but I'm making a couple of meals at dinner. I recently went from eating pretty much whatever to finding out my gallbladder was failing and I was going to need surgery. I've changed my diet to pescatarian, and I have one child that doesn't care for fish lol. Theu get chicken tenders, spahgetti, and their usual meals and I've been making quick separate ones for myself. Sometimes its kind of challenging but in other ways its easier because theyre getting what they want but they're also seeing me eat healthier and trying what I'm eating. My youngest will now eat hummus and avocado and my picky eldest eats lettuce and tried some squash which is HUGE for her. Dont give up, this is super important for you and for them.
