Hi, Avocados and bananas - after putting 1/2 in the refrig, do you eat the whole brown layer and brown spots that have now formed? Or cut it out? I was always cutting it out but now I see when I make a salad or smoothie I use everything, rotten and all. Thank you!

Your avocado can stay fresh if you keep the pit inside and use some acid on the exposed flesh (lime, lemon, vinegar). Bananas can be eaten with brown spots. I do but that’s because I don’t like to waste food.3

I leave the peel on the unused part of the banana and may or may not eat the very end of it, depending on how brown it got.
Agree with the above recommendation for avocado.2 -
I only buy mini bananas for kids [about 60/70g] and eat a whole one.
I leave the avocado stone in and put in the fridge for the next day.........the brown bits don't show when the avo is smashed on toast.0 -
Brown bananas go in the freezer to be made in to frozen smoothies later.4

I buy the teeny tiny avos from TJ’s and eat the whole thing. Any random 1/2 bananas go in the freezer for nice cream.0
