SO I would like tricks or foods that people eat or things they do when that happens to them....

That's great that you see a pattern. Perhaps next time you will realise that you are craving food when you are really upset and will think of other ways to nurture yourself. I have some instant chai lattes in the cupboard for times like that, or I do some deep breathing or talk it out with someone. Sometimes we have to allow ourselves to 'feel', it is OK to be upset. From reading a lot of weight loss blogs a lot of people use food to numb their feelings, so accepting we have feelings, and allowing ourselves to feel them is a great thing to learn.

I had a really bad day today. I knew I wanted food and I just talked myself out of it. I had to just sit and cry. I cried a LOT but I guess that's better than eating a lot.0

I have some teas that I really like, fruit flavours and spice flavours. They feel like a "treat" without actually containing more than a couple of calories, and the water helps cover the "thirst masked as hunger" issue.
I have various small treat foods I allow myself occasionally, but maybe you would be better off just learning to deal with your emotions as they happen, get in touch with how you're feeling, and let the emotion out.0 -
I won't say I was one, because I still am. However, I've gotten so much better thanks to this site. If I want to eat, I drink water, review my diary, and get on this site...seriously it helps SO MUCH! I also take a walk, listen to music, read, or do something to keep my mind off of it. It's hard, but you CAN do it. If anything, I try to keep NO junk around, and reach for something healthy.0

I didn't think I was a stress eater oh but I am. I've been eating between 1500 - 1600 calories a day. Even most of the time eating my exercise calories which I can't lose that last 2 lbs. I get frustrated at myself! I need not to take it out on my body.0

these are great tips, I would never though of having fruity tea around or chai, there is a few great tea places in Ottawa that sells amazing loose tea, I think I will go buy some....and I cry to sometimes especially when I am stressed, and trying to suppress it is when I eat junk food and stuff...0

Oh no!!!!
I hope your day ended up in a positive note!!! Virtual hug for you, :flowerforyou: I think you were right though by doing it, letting our emotion flow is more healthy then suppressing them.0 -

I do that too! Some times I think I was a cow in a past life, 'cause I just want to graze. I try not to keep junk in the house and to eat carrots or leafy greens with no dressing,. I had a friend tell me once that if you are eating collard greens out of the fridge, then you know you are hungry, not just snacking. Now when I look at potato chips when I want to binge, I think, would I eat it if it was a collard green? That helps we walk away. I'm not much a crier. I try to MOVE, walk, swim, punch a punching bag, anything to burn off frustration and hormones. It has the add benefit of suppressing my appetite as well. If you are aware of the problem, you are well on your way to correcting it! Good on you!!
