Net calories ?!? HELP! Friend starving!

Please help me build a case for NET CALORIES over just stand alone calories. My friend is trying to eat JUST 900-1200 calories per day to lose weight , and doesn’t understand how important net calories are..

    When you work out more your body needs more energy. If you don't give your body enough energy, bad things happen. You can lose muscle mass, lose your hair, have fatigue, nasuea, and a whole bunch of other not good stuff. And it's not even effective for weight loss, as you're more likely to yoyo back because those type of diets are harder to maintain.
