Sweet Habit to break

Was wondering if anyone had any tips for me please!!!
Growing up as a child, my family ALWAYS had a sweet after dinner - whether it be a chocolate biscuit, or a bit of ice cream or anything to that measure.
Unfortunately, i've only just realised that because it's been embedded into my head to have a dessert after dinner, i crave something sweet afterwards ALL THE TIME and its driving me CRAZY!!
I know i should just go cold turkey and not eat any dessert at all, but does anyone have any suggestion on either, how i can break this habit, or simply a replacement for them??

Fruit. Try frozen grapes, for example.0

I'm the same way so I have my 1/4 cup (.5of a normal serving) of really good vanilla ice cream after dinner as my daily treat! Of course it has to fit into my targets and if it doesn't then I have to go for a walk/do some activity until it does. Good luck!0

After you're done eating, don't get up from the table. Finish your glass of water, continue the conversation with your family or partner, and reflect on your tasty meal and the nice day you had. After about 15 minutes of relaxing at the table you will feel full and likely mentally satiated too. It'll probably take some practice, but sitting at the table after dinner has helped me curb treats, second helpings, and additional glasses of wine and beer.0

im the same way i just make sure i have calories for after dinner if not then i cant eat it...but RARELY does that happen
you dont have to stop you just have to account for it0 -
If you wish to keep doing it just work it into your calorie count.
100cal cup of ice cream (like Hoodsie cups.)
Yogurt with fruit.
Jello with some Cool Whip.
All good low cal sweets for after dinner.0 -

Related-I eat two Viactiv caramel calcium chews after dinner when I want something sweet. They sound gross but they're actually really yummy. They're chewy and they actually taste like caramel, not that fake stuff. They're only 20 calories a piece and two of them give you 100% of you DV of calcium.0 -

I'm like that, too. My dad would always have to have a "(sweet) bread" (English wasn't his first language) before he went to bed and I grew up with that mentality. So, I just choose sweets that are low-cal/low fat. I really like having a vitatop with some almond milk. That's only about 160 calories together and it's just what I need. You can still have your "sweet" and you can even have a sinful sweet every once in awhile. It's just about changing up what you know to be a sweet (so, maybe not a brownie, ice cream or cupcake, but a low fat mini muffin, some fruit and a square of chocolate, some low fat chocolate milk, etc).0

Get a sweet snack for after dinner that's low in calories. For summer, I LOVE Blue Bell's Natural Fruit Bars. The lime tastes like a margarita, whereas the strawberry actually has real strawberry chunks in it and is just delightful. They're 70-80 calories each, GOOD for you, and guiltfree. Also, you could try getting a tub of frozen yogurt ... or look up recipes for desserts using whole wheat flour and healthier substitutes (honey or agave instead of sugar, applesauce instead of oil and/or eggs). You can have dessert, you just have to make healthier decisions. I made cupcakes from a cake mix and used applesauce instead of oil and saved at least 100 calories PER cupcake. It's so worth it to find little things to make something better for you. I made banana nut bread with whole wheat flour, real bananas, and agave instead of sugar and it ended up about 180 calories for a thin slice.0

I started having sugar free jello when I crave something sweet. 5 calories per serving and 20 calories in the whole box...just in case I feel like being really naughty0

Thanks SO much. Im trying to kick the habit a little as i've noticed i always tend to reach for a sweet if its in front of me. Gotta learn to use that word 'No' more often!0 -

You could eat something sweet that isn't bad for you! I make my own ice cream out of frozen bananas. I freeze them (obviously) and then whip them up with a mixer. It has the EXACT consistency as ice cream, with only like 50 calories per serving.0

Sugar-free jelly is my go-to sweet when I must have something!! & It comes in lots of different flavours - yay for variety.
On healthier days I'm usually satisfied with a Tea2 tea - try gorgeous geisha or creme brulee.... or some sugar-free soda.0 -

Hi, I asked a similar question yesterday,i am a sugar addict today is my 1st day of going cold turkey from sugar. Im going to not have and sugar or refined carbs then after 3 days i will allow my self some fruit and hopefully i.l stick to just eating natural sugars. apart from the occasional treat.0

I'm exactly the same way! I can be stuffed full and still thinking about dessert. I buy 99cal snack size chocolates and generally I have one a day. This works for me - I'm not one of those people who can say "I'll just never eat chocolate again". I find a small amount keeps me happy and feels like a small treat each day. I just accept that I'm happier and more motivated when I have it, and work it into my calories.

as long as it fits into your calorie intake it doesnt matter.
My personal favourite is options hot chocolate. Its a really good sugar/something sweet fix.
The smaller schets are like 40cal each
and the slightly bigger ones are 60cal each.
i have at least one every day and its been working for me, hope that helps0
