1800 isn't really that many... pretty sure you've eaten a lot more than that to be in a position to want to lose weight!
Why not try it for 4 weeks and see?13 -
It depends on your starting weight and activity level. If you are light, 2 lbs a week is not attainable, if you are heavier, it is doable. Use MFP for 4 weeks and see how it goes. The first 2 weeks might be disappointing as some people’s bodies do not adjust to the thought of changing for a few weeks. More information about your circumstances might help people give more specific advise for your journey.1

It depends on how many calories you burn (daily life burns calories, even sleep burns calories, so it's not just about exercise). If your average daily calorie burn is 2800, which is entirely possible even for a woman (which your profile says you are), then eating 1000 calories less than that will result in about 2 pounds a week weight loss, on average. (It won't be exactly 2 pounds every single week, but it would average out around there.)
In order for your daily calorie burn to be 2800 as a woman, you might need to be taller than average, young, in a a physically active job, have a good bit of weight left to lose, or some combination of those. I'm old, small, and fairly light (5'5", 134-point-something pounds today, sedentary outside of intentional exercise, age 63), so my daily calorie burn is smaller than 2800 . . . but I'd still lose weight on 1800, just rather slowly.
That whole idea that all women need to eat crazy-small numbers of calories, like 1200, is a myth. A few do need to do that, but many don't.
Whatever your goal, just be sure to track accurately - a food scale is super-helpful, quicker/easier than cups/spoons measurments, and more accurate by far than eyeballing or estimating. That way, you'll know where you stand.
This is a good article, if you want more info:

I lose 1 pound a week on 2350, so 2 pounds a week on 1800 is perfectly doable, especially if you have a lot to lose.0

Have you ever tracked your calorie intake using a food scale before? Most people who have never weighed and logged their food don't know what a particular number of calories worth of food looks like, which leads to thinking that their calorie goal is too high.5

I lost >70lbs on my first 365 days on MFP while eating more than 2500 Calories a day on average.... whether "1800" will create the deficit you want depends on your starting stats, your actual activity level, and the overall accuracy of your logging...0

I've been losing 2lbs (on average) the past 2 or so months on 1990 cal a day. I try to hit that each day. Of course, I'm a man and I work out 3-4 times a week. I don't expect it will last at that rate as I get closer to my goal...which I'm fine with. I imagine your loss will depend on your how active you are, you metabolism, etc... I'd say give it a shot... Just my 2 cents.1

A 2000-calorie diet is what an average woman needs to maintain weight. An average man needs to eat 2500 calories a day to maintain. So, 1800 calories is under what an average sized person needs just to stay the same. Which means, you should lose.
I eat 1600 calories a day and have lost 68 lbs in 8 months. Give the 1800 calories a day a try for a month and see what happens.0
