'ello! i'm been on mfp for about a year now, and i've lost about 30 pounds. slower than some, but slow loss is fine with me! i went through a 12 week long plateau over the winter and i thought that would be the most maddening thing ever. but now i've got something new going on.
i've been on a maintenance break for about three to four weeks. during this time, i worked out sporadically and ate whatever i wanted, and i stayed around a weight of 188 - 189. this is good stuff.
last week is when i got back to the gym and started journaling my food and downing my water again. i've gained about 4 pounds since then. has anyone been through this? is this normal? will it go away soon? i'm not usually one to remark when my weight fluctuates, but the last couple of weeks have been pretty frustrating.
thanks! :flowerforyou:

Are you netting enough for the increased activity? x0

It's perfectly normal to gain weight when beginning a new workout regiment.
Straining your muscles will cause them to retain water as they "repair" themselves (which will also result in building muscle mass, which also has more weight).0 -
I think it's because ur back to the gym, and u built muscle..muscle weights more than fat..so maybe u lost fat and gained some more muscles0

Sounds odd. However you said in your post that you ate whatever you wanted and exercised sporadically...this to me sounds like you didn't keep up with your usual habits while you were losing the weight. So, could it be you were using different scales to weigh yourself so you weren't getting a true reading? Could it that now that you're back with a vengeance you are putting some muscle back on? You may have lost some muscle and put some fat on which may have caused the scale to be the same. But now that you put muscle on and haven't lost the extra fat YET, it adds up to weighing more?
Just some ideas!0 -
happened to me too, it will go away you may have lost inches do your measurements0

Sorry, muscle doesn't weigh more than fat. 1lb of muscle weighs the same as 1lb of fat. BUT 1lb of muscle is smaller/more dense, hence you 'could' weigh the same but be smaller0
