Apple App Dietary Energy vs MFP

Hi everyone,

This might (probably) be me being a bit dim but can someone please help me with a quick calorie question!

I’ve got mfp syncing to the Apple health app. Everything seems to be fine except the dietary calories. For example - today in MFP I’ve logged/eaten 1480 kcal, in the health app it says 1920 kcal. How can there be such a difference?

Thanks!

I don't have Apple health app, I have a Fitbit but I do notice that sometimes it takes awhile to sync if I changed something in my diary on MFP and sometimes it never syncs up. I can delete the wrong entries on the Fitbit website if I want to, but mostly I just ignore it since I go with the calories on MFP.

I know it shouldn’t bother me but I like all my data to match up :)

I only really took notice of the dietary info yesterday but it’s given substantially different figures for the last few days.

I just wondered how that can be when it’s only taking food logging from MFP?

    :)

Sometimes MFP gets translated into double entries. That used to happen a lot when I was synched with fitbit and also seems to happen sporadically with AW.

I’m seeing the same thing and it is driving me nuts! My dietary energy in the Health app is overstated and my Active and Resting energy is understated in MFP. So I don’t have an accurate representation of my calories in one place.

FYI - You can see the detail in Apple Health under Dietary Energy /Show All Data/ - then you can delete the bad data. When I looked at it they data did not match MFP so I deleted the errant entries.

Used to be that Fitbit would grab partial entries during the day, so pre logged stuff that was subsequently changed would end up with double, triple, or even more entries and repetitions of the same item with varying amounts.

Now there seems to be a meal summary instead and it has been correct every time I've checked (which is not often)

Back then I would sometimes manually delete the wrong items from Fitbit.

Sounds like something similar may be taking place.

Oh man I never even noticed that was calories eaten because it's literally never right.

This happens to me too! As some said, go into dietary energy in Apple health and click in to see all data and you will see one that is there twice, like 205 then 205 again. Delete one of them and your calories should match MyFitnessPal again. I agree this is frustrating. Glad to know it isn’t just me!

This issue continues to be a problem, and I don't see much on the internet about it being addressed. Thanks for the idea of just deleting the duplicates - wasn't sure if that would "break" things.

I think it has to do with just entry timing and if you start and stop apps and how they refresh and ask for info. Deleting duplicate entries in the Health app doesn't hurt anything, just make sure you got the right one because you can't undo it.

Still a frustrating glitch between MFP and Apple Health. I wondered if it was multiple MFP installations across a couple of iPads & iPhone but no difference after deleting the “extra” versions.

Currently, after every day’s last MFP entry, I then have to go through the Calorie listings AND EACH nutrition value, that I am tracking (mainly Protein; Carb; Fat; Fibre) to delete multiple entries (NOTE: deleting “calorie duplicates” doesn’t remove any of the associated dietary info)...

    Crazy & time-wasting...
